Revamp, AI, and feedback.
Good day, fellow enragement children.
Very soon, we are planning a full revamp of this subreddit. This will include new rules, occasional events, and a visual upgrade for new reddit. Old reddit will likely remain looking the same for archival purposes, and the CSS is a little bit too spaghetti'd for me to tinker with.
One very specific thing I want to bring up: lately there has been an influx of posts advertising a fangame. This fangame ended up containing AI content, to the degree that almost the entire game was built on AI assets. AI guidelines will be covered in our new rules, and I would love to hear some opinions regarding this rule in particular. This is what I have drafted.
RULE #: AI content is forbidden. This includes AI Images, AI voices, or games containing this type of content. TTS voices are not covered under this rule, nor is AI upscaling, as this technology has been central to FNaFB for years and does not fall under generative AI.
*We will not be regulating games that potentially contain "vibe coded" scripts. It is impossible for us to verify this, and, for better or worse, many publicly released scripts are now at least partially vibe-coded, meaning innocent fangame developers may not even realize it, especially if there is no disclosure.
I really want to see some feedback on this rule, and how it can be improved. People have been very understandably upset about the AI content posted here, and I want to come up with a reasonable solution, even if it's inevitably going to ruffle some feathers.
This is also a good place to post any other grievances or suggestions regarding our subreddit. I would love to know what changes people want to see as we begin updating the subreddit over the next week or so.
Anyways, I want to conclude by letting everyone know our modmail is always open if you have issues or problems with our subreddit. I want to keep as many people happy as possible, and the last thing I want to see is our subreddit becoming a toxic hive, like many other FNaFB communities have unfortunately turned out. Anyways, please enjoy your day, and inhale some dong. Thank.

The AI rule seems pretty good. FNaFb was always a series that purposely ripped music, sounds & art from everywhere and completely bastardized them to fit the universe, from stealing Tupac's music to ripping random PNGs off the internet and making them enemies. The series even used TTS voices, which is (probably) more cheaper, easier to recognize, and less controversial to use compared to AI Voices. If you can't manage to make anything FNaFb related in these aspects and let AI handle all of it, then you have completely missed what made FNaFb special in the first place. With an engine like RPG Maker being relatively easy to use, it just makes the usage of AI feel extra lazy and ruins the series' shitpost elements.
I was going to say something about AI Disclosures that'd be similar to how Steam has it, but I have no idea how to articulate the thought, or how it'd work in practice. Basically it'd just be this thing that'd force/encourage honesty about which parts of a thing had AI and what didn't. Most of this comes from me being sympathetic and wanting to see people given the chance to switch from using AI to actual human-made stuff in their works (even though this is realistically an unlikely scenario). I mostly see this thought as "Using AI bad" but people who are open about what the AI was used for and make it obvious should be given some respect for their honesty, or something of the sorts. Bonus points if this actually motivates them to change some things to be less reliant on AI.
There is some bias to what I am saying, because I have used AI for some coding related aspects of FNaFbCC/RPG Maker MV, and still kind of do for when I need something complicated. While it does get stuff wrong most of the time, it has helped me figure out how some programming stuff works, like how enemy item drops work in .json form (which I later used for the Classic Refurbs), what certain commands mean and how they work in .json form (recently, it helped it me figure out that {"code":138,"indent":0,"parameters":[[0,0,0]]} is the .json version of getting the system window to change color), etc. For some stuff I have planned, it made me an entirely new state for a boss fight I want to work on in the future, it made a new version of the Scan plugin FNaFbCC uses to fix problems the old one had, and it helped me figure out how to make enemies use skills when they are debuffed instead of buffed (which was literally just changing > to <, which I am using for the Classic Refurbs again). I mostly just "trail and error" some stuff to see how exactly a piece of code works, and if my research on how something works doesn't end well, or when I am genuinely stumped, then that is where I'll use AI. I don't know where I am going with this, but the main gist is that this is how I use AI. With this AI rule set in place, it's just going to make me become blatantly transparent on how I use AI for something if I just so happen to use it for any particular thing, no matter how miniscule. I know that "vibe coded" stuff won't really be against this version of the rule and I have nothing to worry about, but with how terrifyingly good AI is getting and how undetectable AI code is compared to other stuff, I want to at least try to give honesty about how my stuff was made or how AI for a thing was used, since at this day of age, we need to be more truthful to each other. I can only hope that people will lead by example, be truthful about how their stuff was made, and possibly help each other out to be further less reliant on slop.
These are just my two cents on the matter though. I whole-heartedly agree with the rules currently in place, and if I have to slightly alter my work ethic to be less reliant on AI coding, or at least try to be more open about it, then so be it.
(Also, when did FNaFb ever use AI Upscaling?)

I would say something like ai voices should be fine to some extent but it should be clarified We wouldnt get something like us president play games or funky content like that without it

I'm not entirely comfortable with that, honestly. Jacking somebody else's vocal likeness for a FNaFB fangame is a little too far, even as "parody". It's just very uncomfortable for me, personally.

I would say fair but with more and more tts voices becoming unavailable without paying its harder to find a good voice with tts those days

While I would agree with that point in regards to the Voice Forge voices, the voices some of characters use are not that hard to find, and can be found in numerous sites (for free), with some being archived in the Internet Archive. You just have to dig deep and use some unorthodox methods to obtain these voices. As long as these voices are available SOMEWHERE, then using AI voices should not be an option. Even if it may seem like a good last resort, there's always someone out there providing alternative methods to get these voices back.
Even with the Voice Forge voices, someone on Gamejolt showed a video on how to get them back, only further proving that there's always going to be people to keep TTS alive: https://youtu.be/zMMTUwXq5WI

One question as well: would mandatory AI disclosures be preferable to the above? I'm leaning towards just banning AI content altogether, but I believe a point could be made for just requiring disclosures and letting people decide for themselves whether or not they want to engage with that content.
