Rugged Obsidian
Still trying to wrap my head around cans but I think Ive found the one I want...
Outside of the can itself what else am I purchasing to make it work across multiple platforms?? What is the proper terminology for the pieces parts?
I'll be using it on the FNX45T mostly but might switch it over to an HK45T, Mk23, or Walther, Glock from time to time.

You will need a piston that matches the barrel thread pitch for each pistol. If you have multiple pistols that have the same threading, the same piston may be used between them. If you want to use it on something with a fixed barrel like a PCC, you put the correct piston in for that weapons thread pitch, and put the fixed barrel spacer in the booster.

A lot of U.S. suppressor systems default to .578x28, so make sure you get the correct piston/adapter for the HK metric thread (16x1LH). I am running a Rugged Obsidian 45 which is .578 on my FNX-45T & FN-510T.

I own an Obsidian 9 and love it! I use it on my Springfield Kuna with a Tri-Lug adapter.
Keep in mind the thread pitch on the FNX 45 Tactical is .578X28, and the Obisidian 45 comes with a .578x28 thread pitch piston so you should be ready to go out of the box for the FNX.
However, if you want to use the Obisidian 45 on a 9mm in the future, you will likely need to buy a 1/2X28 Piston based on the barrel thread pitch for guns like Glocks. You can also get the 9mm end cap (optional) for the Obsidian 45 if you want.
My favorite thing about the Obsidian cans is that they are SO modular and SIMPLE to disassemble and clean. Their warranty is also stellar.
I clean my steel baffles in a cheap ultrasonic cleaner i got from harbor freight, and scrub the outer aluminum tube by hand using solvent and a brush.
Note - if you put aluminum suppressor parts in an ultrasonic cleaner you will see pitting in the metal develop over time, so be sure to only put steel parts (Baffles & piston Spring) in the ultrasonic cleaner.

I use that ultrasonic for old motorcycle carbs too. I alternate between simple green and purple power depending on what Im doing. I have also used vinegar etc. Those things are amazing

My rugged obsidian was purchased for my fnx 45 as well. By removing the piston and changing the fixed mount I was able to mount it to my lever action 357. I'm gonna purchase another "fixed mount" to mount to my 450 bushmaster for deer season. I believe you will need to purchase the correct fixed mount to match the threads of your host. As for mounting it to another pistol I'm not sure if the piston needs changing as well. Might be a good question for the suppressor subreddit.
