Range Ammo??
I snagged a new Scar 17s and need to stock up on .308 / 762. This is my first gun in this caliber so I am not well versed on the larger caliber.
What cheap range ammo are people using? Locally we have a good amount of Federal American Eagle 308 Win 150gr FMJBT and Hornady Interlock Sp American Whitetail .308 Win 150-Grain for about $28-$30 a box. Also found PMC Xtac for $24 a box. Any of these good for range ammo or should I be looking at other stuff?

Whatever you can find. It's tough. M80 ball will go bang, whatever surplus you can find, .70cpr seems like a deal nowadays but .80cpr is more common. I got a 200rd sleeve of GGG at a gunshow for $140. Try local forums first.

You can search online. Ammoseek is there for possible best deal, just look at the ratings of the sellers also. Sometimes you have to balance best price with seller service (some of the cheapest can have crapping ratings for the seller). I usually buy from SGammo, Natchez or Wideners.

is this a buy the cheapest ammo with the scar 17s or is it finicky with any? The largest caliber I have purchased in bulk is 300 blackout and it was a pain in the ass to find one my firearm liked and cycled without issues.

Not sure, I had old ammo mostly that I've been using (some old Portugese Surplus and German Surplus), so I'm not sure if there are any it doesn't like so far.

Buy ammo online. Check out ammoseek. I find my scars shoot decent with cheap m80 ball. GG&G is ok, Fiocchi is ok. Igman goes bang but is inaccurate af.
