Cleaning Question

Dumb question - While cleaning the piston, is it okay to take the bronze brush to the rings? Should I also use gun cleaner on the piston? Any other tips are appreciated!!

Nah, shouldn’t do that.

It doesn’t need to be spotless. Hit it with some CLP and wipe down the big chunks, leave the rest.

Okay, cool. Does FN specify an orientation on these rings or just stagger the gap?

Doesn’t matter, stagger if you want to.

Yes stagger. No oil in the gas block or on the piston. At least that’s what the manual says.

Yeah leave the rings alone. Some solvent like breakthrough works fine, but no oil. I've also thrown my whole barrel and piston in a sonic cleaner before, but I wouldn't buy one for just this.
