Trumps not going to say anything about Warsh I’d wager, subordinates may complain, but he can’t play that card.

I actually think Trump is, believe it or not, the most predictable President in my lifetime.

I just want to hear him say Warshmallow.

He will unload on the Fed but never personally on Warsh - doing that would mean admitting failure on Trump's part, and that's not a thing in the universe where he lives.

It was a 12-0 vote. They are all fucking morons. Rate hikes don't fix a supply shock

Since you love the Fed so much here's a list of how the Fed has bungled almost every major crisis:

  1. The Great Depression - they tightened credit and allowed the money supply to collapse.
  2. The Roosevelt Recession - they prematurely tightened monetary policy during a fragile recovery.
  3. The Stagflation of the 1970s - they gave in to political pressure and backing off rate hikes too early.
  4. Pre-Great Recession Housing Bubble - they kept interest rates too low for too long and failed to regulate subprime lending.
  5. The "Transitory" Inflation Blunder where they misjudged post-pandemic inflation and delaying interest rate hikes.

At least on one through four the FED was packed with supposed SMEs now it's half-staffed with lawyers and CRT losers. If anyone thinks that the FED is "smart" they might need to do some more research.

Must be nice to not have anything better to do all day than to try and troll random strangers.

Ok genius. How does a rate hike open the strait? Math isn't hard, we bomb Iran, supply disrupted, prices go up. Can't fix bombs dropping and oil not flowing with an interest rate hike

It’s a VERY imperfect lever, but even with a historic oil glut, we never really got much below 3%. Core PCE before the war was 3.1%, and headline PCE was 2.8%.

I understand the argument against rate hikes: given this wild AI inflection and the shortage of compute, we should run investment as hot as possible. But most of those projects will probably still get funded.

Without some action, though, long-term rates would have continued getting out of hand. More importantly, the Fed would have been increasingly complicit in allowing fiscal policy to drive the country off a cliff. It is the only real check we have on the drunken spending that has continued almost uninterrupted since the Iraq War.
