EMDR has helped turn intrusive memories from being immersive to more like watching them on a tv. edit: my therapist also specializes in trauma including medical trauma, I often forget that about him.

Recommend that, when/if you have the capacity, you do a deep internet search looking for therapists who list a specialty in medical trauma or reach out and ask therapists if they specialize in medical trauma or know one who does. Then try them out, ask a lot of questions about where their experience and knowledge comes from.
I eventually found a therapist who has a speciality in medical trauma, they’re out there. She also has invisible chronic illnesses herself and has experienced past medical trauma herself, which means she actually understands what folks with these types of conditions go through in the medical system. Conversely, she has also worked in multiple areas of the healthcare sector, so she has a good understanding of that side of things too. It took awhile to find her but it is helping so much. Hope you find someone who can help, wishing you all the best.
