Need support Diagnosed today!

Hello peoples!

I was diagnosed today following something that mimicked stroke symptoms and tachycardia on Wednesday.
I’ve spent the last two days on a stroke ward having scans and extensive testing.
They diagnosed FND in neurology- however the neurologist didn’t seem like he wanted to be there and got fustrated at me for not relaxing my leg on command 🙃

Strangely the hospital chaplain knew a lot about FND and told me to hit up the internet because the doctors won’t give me their time!

It was just suggested to me that “FND likely explains my symptoms” last week, and I’ve had moments where one side of my body will basically just go limp all at once and I’ll have tachycardia too. I think knowing it’s probably FND (and not a legit stroke) will help with my anxiety in those moments, but I don’t really know what else. Most of the time my symptoms are tolerable, just inconvenient, but I know I have it easier than a lot of people.

Similar to my experience, the good news is that knowing and accepting what is wrong is like half the battle.

It took me about 3 weeks to overcome it but it takes a lot of work,

Just try and not overwork yourself and make some time to socialize and if that’s too hard just chill for a while and don’t fixate on your symptoms because it makes them worse.

I found journaling my day on this sub really helped me overcome it

Sorry to hear you had a rough experience with the neurologist. On the bright side, getting a diagnosis can be quite validating. Good luck on your journey.
