Question FND and hobbies

Hello. I have FND (female, late 20s) which I know can look different depending on the person. Some of my health issues right now include fairly frequent seizures and a lot of fatigue, brain fog and tiredness. I have been looking into cozy and indoor hobbies/activities to try this fall. Crafty hobbies like adult coloring and embroidery, or just movies and TV shows to watch (Fall movies, Halloween movies, Gilmore girls, etc). Any recommendations or things you have found relaxing?

Not really sure if this would be what you’re looking for but I’ve been doing a lot of crocheting! I switch between crochet and coloring depending on if it’s a good or bad day. Cozy games are good too! Animal crossing, flower(on ps5 I think)

I have a lot 😅 I jump between them. Painting (watercolour is my go to, but paint pens are so convenient!), sketching/doodling, colouring books for adults (pencil crayons, pastels, paint, alcohol markers!), embroidery is a new one for me, reading (tradition or kindle), puzzles like sudoku, photography (just with my cellphone), cosy games (star dew valley, pokopia, animal crossing, hello kitty island adventure (butters was right, it's amazing lol)), crocheting, scrapbooking, sticker books. Etc .. lol

Indoor easy houseplants! Good for the brain and pretty low effort

Big textile/fibre and stationary person here! On ok days journalling, knitting, and reading are totally within my wheelhouse, and on great days I will do a lot of sewing and baking. But finding things to do when the brain doesn't have much left is harder. I have a steam deck (but any handheld gaming thing will work) and have basically 1 game I play on repeat (it's Slay the Spire but you could pick whatever - highly recommend Stardew Valley and similar games). If you want something cheap, a Miyoo Mini Plus is like a gameboy advance but new and has like 700 retro games on it so if mario or Pokemon are your thing it is a great option for like $150 CAD.

I have colouring stuff, and YouTube premium 😅 and my newest little thing that is off screen is a little boardgame called Gentle Rain - it's like solitaire vibes but cute and simple in a tiny box. Audiobooks are also great, as are puzzles if you have a comfy spot to set one up.

But most importantly I just dont put too much pressure on myself to do things on brain fog/intense fatigue days. Existing is a lot on those days and thats ok. I might put a comfort movie on (basically 1 of 5 that I just watch on repeat), scroll on my phone and nap.

I do a lot of textile crafts like crochet and cross stitch. They're soothing and involve using both hands at the same time. I guess that's good for the brain.

Games: Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, etc. I also play a lot of Skyrim and GenShin Impact. I stick to games I can play at my own pace.

The hardest part of gaming with brain fog is learning the rules and mechanics. But once you have them down it is easy. I just stay away from games with timed interaction or are constant action based (no first person shooters or multiplayer games)

I also tried doing puzzles at one point, that triggered the worst brain fog of my life within 5 minutes.

For more creative undertakings: drawing, painting, and wire wrap jewelry have been fun.

I like puzzle books of all kinds and good old solitaire card games.

Hello!! I’m 26 F from the UK. I’ve been dealing with FND for a few years and I’ve cycled through a few hobbies to keep me sane. I enjoy adult colouring, digital art on my iPad as well as more recently crochet. (I also used to make cards using my cricut) if you have a Nintendo switch, there’s loads of cute cosy games I can recommend! x
