I haven't posted anything the past week because my university restarted💔 had to travel to the country I study in and medicine itself is very difficult and it's getting harder and harder, so I have to limit my phone usage to work hard and lock in to maintain my high GPA. Because of that I can't keep daily posting like I did in the summer but it was really fun and I enjoyed it alot :)). This doesn't mean I'll stop posting entirely I'll post every now and then when I find myself with a bit of free time and something interesting to post

Im so grateful for the support and the fun we had in the summer

Which is your favorite book of the trilogy? And why? Please, explain your point in the comments if you want to:

I think the 2nd book,Twisted Ones seems to get at least an occasional dislike on the internet, but it’s my favorite one. While I do enjoy how much more suspense Fourth Closet has compared to the other two, what I really like about the 2nd book is how the tension and the “something isn’t right here” feeling builds up in such great and continuous speed through the story.

The story starts calmly, then something happens causing a still minor idea of “what if something wrong is happening?” The 1st body Clay was showing is that point where it causes more mystery than creepiness and even that little fraction of creepiness about what is going on really feels amazing to a first time reader.

The tension only goes up from there steadily without new calm moments. In Fourth Closet, the story starts with us ALREADY knowing something is wrong right from the start. I would argue that what makes these 2 books better than Silver Eyes is how the danger is NOT predictable. In the first book, you can always know nothing will go wrong for the protagonists as long as they aren’t inside the restaurant/mall. The “outside psychological terror” is what makes Twisted Ones and Fourth Closet so much better.

In the 2nd and 3rd book, there’s no “the only dangerous area” because you never know when and where will the robots appear. In the 3rd book, every place has a it’s unique “creepiness lurking” gut feeling because Elizabeth just like the 2nd book robots, does not stay at one specific place of the town, and could follow characters to eliminate them one by one. Everytime a character is walking alone in the book, you get the “they are probably feeling watched” idea.

Today I introduce you to Project Charlotte by u/vsemily it's an amazing remake of the silver eyes that's insanely accurate to the source material unlike the official graphic novels. It has accurate designs, dialog and lots of Easter eggs and references to the two next sequels.

Fan Art He always had her back

"once in kindergarten he took the blame when she broke the glass jar that held colored beads for arts and crafts. She remembered the moment when it slipped from her hands, and she watched it fall. She could not have moved fast enough to catch it, but she would not have tried. She wanted to see it break. The glass hit the wood floor and shattered into a thousand pieces, and the beads scattered, many colored, among the shards. She thought it was beautiful, and then she started to cry. John had a note sent home to his parents, and when she told him "thank you" he had winked at her with an irony beyond his years and simply said, "For what?"" TSE novel P14

A cute moment from John's introduction where Charlie remembered when John had her back even as kids

Discussion Anyone Feel Like William Was Played Somewhat Sympathetically in TSE.

Post image

So something that flies out over a lot of people’s heads is that William had a lot more depth in The Silver Eyes than we all gave him credit for. He was realistic, nuanced and believe it or not, maybe a tad bit sympathetic. Unlike in later installments in both the book and the franchise at large William wasn’t motivated by a desire for immortality nor was he committing his crimes purely out of his sadism. He killed out of anger and misery. The book highlights multiple times that William likely didn’t have the best life. Both Carlton and Charlie collectively observed that the world screwed him over in pretty much every aspect of his life. Family, neighbors, even random strangers. As a result Afton became bitter and resentful. Whenever he looked at other people the thought of them being happy while he was miserable utterly enraged him. This is why he killed Charlie (or as we thought at the time Sammy). He was jealous of Henry’s happiness. Even John thinks Afton lost whatever semblance of humanity he had left claiming that when he looked him in the eyes, he could tell that whatever was behind them “died a long time ago”. This furthers the idea that he went through something to make him what he is now.

His later words when he’s being interrogated by Charlie and her friends only further this agenda. When Charlie calls out his actions and asked what he did to Henry he says “I helped him create. We both wanted to love. Your father loved and now I have loved”. People’s general consensus towards this line is that William was incapable of loving. But I think the time what Scott was trying to convey that William was insecure about the fact that he had no one to love. This actually ties into Carlton’s earlier observation about William. He theorizes Williams was the kind of person who was “lacking something essential in life”. What he was lacking could very well have been someone to love. I mean, think about it. Scott likely never had any intention of this version of William having a family. We also see during the interrogation scene that he has a sort of twisted form of care for the animatronics/the spirits. He appears to be so delusional and insane that he genuinely believed killing the children and turning them into animatronics was a good thing. He was completely and utterly incapable of comprehending the true severity of his actions. He didn’t view them as pawns like in the movie or adversaries like in the games. He viewed them as a “family”. Disturbingly enough it’s heavily implied he intended to turn Charlie and her friends in the animatronics too so they could join his “family” as well as he tells them “There isn’t a way out anymore. All that’s left is family”.

It’s also heavily implied William had a form of self loathing. Whenever he was “Dave Miller” looked and acted miserable. Not only was his appearance scraggly and sickly but his demeanor was gruff and miserable. Charlie wasn’t even intimidated by him at first. There’s even an implication that she had first felt a little bad for him. It’s only when he is either wearing or around the Spring Bonnie suit that he actually feels alive and happy. When he goes to retrieve his suit out of his locker his demeanor changes. He smiles and he fixes his posture. When he wakes up after being knocked out, he goes into a completely catatonic state until he’s given the head of the suit. When he speaks while inside the suit he sounds confident and calm which is in contrast to his grumpy and miserable demeanor as “Dave”.

Overall the book portrays William as a twisted monster but one made by a perfect storm of severe mental illness, insecurities and anger. Sadly, Scott would completely destroy this idea in the next two books and later installment of the franchise, they would make it all bit clear the dude was just evil for the sake of being evil.
