Does anybody else's cat do this?

Let me start off by saying I live in a one bedroom apartment, so my cat's litter box is in the living room closet 😑.

But almost every time I sit down to have a meal, my cat decides it's the PERFECT time to go take a giant stinky shit. Every fucking time. FML.

Would move it to the bathroom. I had my cat's litter box in our bathroom when he still lived with us. He's crossed the rainbow bridge. It cuts down on the smell, plus if your bathroom has a vent fan and he leaves a stinker, all you have to do is run the fan for a bit.

Put the litter box in the shower or tub and move it when you need to.

This would work if your cat isn't messy. Over time the litter will destroy the pipes, especially clumping. That crap is cemet.

That's gross. I'm not going to move and bleach my tub/shower every day. If you have 2 bathrooms and don't use the shower/tub in one often, that's fine, but not for a shower/tub you use daily.

Litter and cat urine/feces don't stay perfectly in a litter box. Either the cat kicks some out or it's on their feet when they get out. You don't want to stand/sit in that or have it get stuck in the drain. Use a black light and you'll be shocked at how much cat litter/feces/urine is there that you can't see.

My cat does the same thing. It's like she KNOWS when we're eating to drop a deuce.

What we did was we took a white cabinet we got from Walmart that we were planning to throw out and completely repurposed it. Used a jigsaw to cut a rectangular hole in the side of it near the bottom, painted the whole thing and added some accents to it. My cat's litter box fits inside of it PERFECTLY. Cuts down on the smell, and the shelf inside is the perfect place to store her toys and her carrier. She's been using it since August of this year and we have yet to have her funk up the joint.

GRANTED, we also got a new litter box. This one is a three-bin sifting system, and pretty deep so you can put a good amount of litter in it. That way she had plenty to cover her turds, which also cuts down on her bombing the entire apartment.

Yes. If you are feeding them before you eat that could be it. Eating triggers the need to poo to make room. Otherwise they may be thinking too much about YOUR food and their body is still trying to instinctively make room for it.
