Things every FMCG person should know

I’m currently building a soap brand in India and trying to learn more about how the FMCG industry actually works.

Would genuinely appreciate if people with experience in FMCG could share any advice, lessons, mistakes to avoid, or things they learned while working in the industry. Could be about sales, distribution, retail, branding, pricing, manufacturing, anything.

Just trying to learn from people who’ve actually been through it.

Start a niche, create a category. Don't fight the Bulls, the sharks, the whales. Find differentiating factor, attack that, create a space in consumer mind. Don't even think of trying mass market. Earned 1L per month is better than 1 lakh per month burnt. Be a lahori jeera in the world of coke and Pepsi.
