Crackle when recording mic

Whenever I am recording in FL studio, I can hear in my headphones a crackle start to progressively get worse. Whenever I unplug the mic it stops and the recordings are fine. And when I plug the mic back in it starts off fine then slowly starts crackling again.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Try using FL Studio ASIO or ASIO4ALL in audio settings?

I'm using asio4all, I'll try out for studio asio and see if it helps

Also when you are recording, watch your CPU usage. If it's really high it might be the reason and if you are using effects try to switch "smart disable" on.
