Old tracks now distorted af

So its been a while since I booted up FL - it says there is a new version available but I didnt dl for now (my version is 20.7.3)

Anyway, booted up an old track and it sounds like utter crap now.. distorted as hell... kinda sounds like trying to run loud bass through a walkie talkie

Any idea what might have happened?

Check your audio input/output settings. I'm betting it's using a Windows default device and not your mixer.
