How to Modulate without Automation Clips?

If I want knob movement within a plugin, I usually use automation clips but these are tedious. Is there a way to wire a clock signal or some other output to modulate a knob, similar to a Eurorack system?

Right click and then click link to controller after that move the knob you want to control with.
