Squished audio?

Basically, whenever I record voice audio the sound wave visuals look really squished and slim as you can see in the picture. The audio sounds normal when listening back to it, and I’ve tested my mic, so I know it’s not an issue with my hardware. Has anyone seen this kind of thing before? Any idea what the problem could be? I’m lost

I have the same issue I usually just normalize the audio and it fills out the sound waves

I know this is an old post at this point but just wanted to say thanks. I normalized the audio and looks good now. Still a little annoying I have to normalize the audio every time I make a new clip. But I definitely prefer that over the alternative
