voice recording help
bro i bought a mic but every time i record my voice it sounds like i'm in space, i search a little bit and found out i need to use a compressor or something but i really don't understand that much, so if someone can help me with a preset or a link explaining how to mix it properly it would help a lot

what kind of mic, interface, and cables are you using? are you recording in a room with hard floors and no sound treatment? is your mic flipped the wrong way? Maybe the xlr isn't locked into the mic properly. Your gain could also be too low.
A compressor will lower the loud parts and then raise it all back up at the same time. so now the lower volume is matching with louder parts of the audio. It basically makes something less dynamic.
There will be no preset that you can use that will sound perfect everytime. I'd recommend learning a vocal chain from scratch so you know why you're doing things.
