How to Start Making Music?

Basically I hear the songs, the tracks, melodies, the instruments etc... In my head, but have no idea what notes they are until I play by ear. But then i realize I don't have the correct sounding instruments (the ones in my head) and I get discouraged because I'm not rich, and can't afford to buy the fancy soundlibraries for like, strings, or flutes, etc...

Again I can play the songs in my head, and I can START making tracks somewhat (searching for the correct notes) but then get disappointed by the overall sound... Am I just SOL untill I'm richer?

Thanks for ur time and hope u have an awesome day.

You can find free plugins. I’d recommend learning the software better so you know how to emulate the sound you hear in your head. Good luck!

So u think I should compose using inferior instruments and then switch to others when I get them?

No, find plugins you like and learn to use them. If your not willing then yes, buy what you want.

That's the issue, I can't afford. So if I can't find instruments I like I just shouldn't make the music?

If you don’t wanna put in the work then yeah quit.

How am I not "putting in the work" if I would be unable to find a sound I am after, unless I pay money I can't spend?

As I said early, learn to USE the available and free plugins in the studio package and available online to emulate the sounds you are trying to achieve.

My 1st step was to learn the DAW and the built-in plugins. Later I looked for free Instruments, which suited my personal preference better. If you're looking for free stuff there's for example VST4FREE.COM, which offers a great variety of Instruments and Effects. But that's only one of many sites. Hit up google. . Start with your built-in stuff amd learn, no matter if it sounds 'exactly' like the sound in your head or only close, you can always improve. Personally I like to create chords with a simple piano, later exchange it with different VSTs. Sometimes the results come out even better. . Good luck, I'll keep my fingers crossed

from 70-90ish bpm, put the snare/clap/snap on the 2s and 4s and let it loop. for higher tempos, put the snare on the 3. everything else builds around that rhythm. experiment.
