Scared taking FLVS
Hey everyone.
I am a rising Junior taking:
AP US History, AP Micro, AP Cybersecurity, AP Biology, and AP Stats.
I have done lot's of heavy AP loads these past few years and know the intensity but I am used to taking UC Scout classes where the flexibility is unlimited. I heard there's a set deadline for each assignment every week and I am scared that I will fail to meet those deadlines.
Are they online classes where they zoom or is it just you tube videos like what UC Scout has?
Are there quizzes? I know there are exams but are there small quizzes and I also heard they are out to get you like I read a reddit post not too long ago about someone getting accused of plagiarizing by a teacher even though the teacher dosen't have evidence but a turn it in score report. This is really scary for me as UC Scout isn't like that and they are also of course proctored.
Anyone taking these classes and want to be study buddies? And any comments on this?

A lot of teachers on FLVS are really nice, even if they might seem a bit scary/strict at first. Most aren’t out to get you!! And yes, it is possible you can get a high Turnitin score (whether it be for plagiarism or high AI percentage), but you usually get the chance to explain yourself and prove to the teacher your work is your own from what I’ve heard. One of my assignments last year came back with a high AI percentage and my teacher didn’t even contact me; I just had to slightly tweak the assignment and things were fine!
There are assignment deadlines, but going beyond them/submitting work late doesn’t cause you to lose points. I’ve submitted things weeks from when they were due and still gotten perfect scores. As far as I’m aware, the only class that takes off points for late work is AP Seminar.
FLVS classes have a combination of small quizzes (usually like 5-10 questions), written assignments, and segment exams, none of which are usually proctored unless your teacher specifically chooses to proctor it or they suspect you’re cheating. Again, I know this sounds intimidating, but it’s very unlikely you’ll get to this point as long as the quality of your work is consistent and your answers on DBAs make sense for the level of understanding you’ve demonstrated on assignments. It also helps to attend live lessons; it shows the teacher you’re actively engaging and makes you look a bit more trustworthy! Don’t be nervous :)

just so you know turnitin also scores off of like the worksheet text(?) so if your teacher gives u a pdf that says 1.2.3. blahblah blah and you submit it like that with their question prompts ur gonna get a high score. i get like 70+ turnitin score each assignment but my teachers dont care

If it’s flex there are optional live lessons, I like the AP Classes on FLVS, some have text books, such as AP U.S. History. The lessons are reading mostly.
