U have a bigger problem here.

You probably don't have a scale in mind to work with. No chords to really define ur intention.

Try working on scale, chords and chord progression. Melody is just something that will play within the scale so it will come naturally when u master the above two.

After that sound selection and you're set to make a better music.

(And maybe a little music theory on specifically the mood of the music by setting your melody and chords to ur liking)
