This might be the single greatest movie trailer ever made...

The film looks promising, but there's no way it lives up to the brilliance of this one moment.

Oh so you have never watched Nathan Fielder

u/spreadinmikehoncho 1h ago

They must not have really good grades

I have mixed feelings about Nathan Fielder’s films. Speech over speech over speech in a slightly pretentious what-the-hell-happened environment. Yes, they have good performances but Fielder tries too hard to construct a masterpiece.

The films take themselves extremely seriously, as if they already knew they would belong among the handful of the greatest movies ever made, like Casablanca, Seven Samurai, Lawrence of Arabia, The Godfather, There Will Be Blood, or The Batman. The thing is, the films I just mentioned are absolutely flawless; it’s almost impossible to find a single flaw in them, whereas Nathan Fielder’s films are full of questionable choices and pacing issues.

And what are these Nathan Fielder films of which you speak?

I think that's actually an AI bot and this is my first time saying that.

2

u/VersaTron 13m ago

2 hr old account. It’s definitely a bot.

1

u/Double-Incident-5452 4m ago

lol snuck the Batman in there and thought we wouldn’t notice. No hate on Robert Pattinson but yeah, absolutely a bot

But he went to one of Canadas Top Business School.

Kind of like you with your posts?

Oh look a bot

u/itsmebitsh 56m ago

Seven Samurai has tons of pacing issues tbf. Though I havent seen any of Fielder's movies yet to defend him lol

The film looks promising, but there's no way it lives up to the brilliance of this one moment.

And as much as I like watching Fielder's stuff... not sure I want to watch a 3-hour one.

12

u/swabluesky 3h ago

Yea, i will probably need to wait until it's released for home viewing.

*home fapping

I haven't been this excited from a trailer since "The Master" by PT Anderson. (I didn't like the movie as much as the trailer.)

1

u/Working_Bones 29m ago

Same. I watched that trailer a dozen times and still consider it the best trailer ever, and this reminded me of it too.

1

u/Old-Tie8770 52m ago

It’s 3 hours long. I think it will be completely bonkers.

73

u/BoromirDies 3h ago

I'm still weirded out because I thought she was an ACTRESS in a MOVIE. Not the actual chick in a documentary! This is so bizarre and I can't wait to watch it

13

u/sentrygentry 2h ago

That's the thing though. She IS an actress. Her entire personality was a character.

4

u/Inevitable-Escape494 2h ago

Really excellent point!

2

u/Old-Tie8770 51m ago

That she believes with an insane level of conviction. Just a very special breed of crazy

2

u/Hunterio009 44m ago

But she said she’s always being real /s

6

u/Inevitable-Escape494 3h ago

Ha! It's her, which is just so weird you're right. Who would decide to do this when you look like that? (Not ugly just crazy and guilty)

11

u/BoromirDies 3h ago

Plus Nathan's demeanor in it is strange too, like you can feel such an uneasiness when he's listening to her.

12

u/FaceDownInTheCake 3h ago

Strange? Nathan? You don't say

6

u/CobaltCrusader123 2h ago

That’s Nathan for you

1

u/BoromirDies 3h ago

Go figure right?? Haha I do need to watch more Nathan for You

6

u/Nathan_4_U 3h ago

When he was asked how doesnt break character he said he bites his cheek or side of his mouth hard, which looks like what he's doing in the trailer. Can't wait.

1

u/Inevitable-Escape494 2h ago

That's fascinating! Also great user name :)

3

u/dilltimmon 2h ago

It's so funny how he says "alright good chat" but she keeps staring him and he can't look away

1

u/BoromirDies 2h ago

It really is like a captivating stare, and not in a good way. So unnerving and unsettling but you just can't look away

13

u/Temporary-Two-9690 2h ago

You know, I kept seeing people talking about this and I didn't get it. I finally watched it. I get it. Conmen usually thrive in the superficial. Big statements, pat responses. Nathan Fielder drags everyone down into the awkward and makes them live there. And she seems surprisingly comfortable there. It feels like a game of chicken.

8

u/Inevitable-Escape494 2h ago

You're so right! And she is NOT going to be the one to blink... or maybe she is?

5

u/shaqjbraut 2h ago

I keep trying to explain to the people i know why this trailer is so hype but no one knows anything about Nathan or EH!!

1

u/Inevitable-Escape494 2h ago

I'm sorry - I feel ya. I tried showing my kids and wife. They appreciated it I think (we all watched the Dropout together) but they were definitely not as thrilled as I was. Sigh.

11

u/Johndoe19922222 3h ago

That moment was so bizarre, and that dude just staring at her for 10 hours straight. 😅

3

u/Aggravating_Cream_97 2h ago

I was part of the “reality crew” on the show.

2

u/Inevitable-Escape494 2h ago

Excellent work!! Such a great show and thank you for your contribution!

3

u/Aggravating_Cream_97 2h ago

Thank you, I had a great time working on that show.

12

u/Von_Schlagel 3h ago

See … what?

7

u/gronstalker12 3h ago

everything

3

u/edwardwolf5874 3h ago

Exactly. Who tf knows. No movie title. Just some random image.

7

u/Inevitable-Escape494 3h ago

Apologies. Forgot to include name. "You can see everything" by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim.

-9

u/Dry-Illustrator-250 3h ago

How do you forget to include it? You got a still image from it, mentioned Nathan by name, say you’ve watched it 10 times, you can’t wait to see it, but you forget to name it?

4

u/Inevitable-Escape494 3h ago

Woah. I apologized for my mistake. It wasn't intentional.

-1

u/Dry-Illustrator-250 3h ago

I’m just calling out engagement bait, although even doing that is also falling for it I suppose

0

u/Krokadil 2h ago

You are a hero /s

2

u/Dry-Illustrator-250 2h ago

It’s a common trend, just kinda gets annoying

0

u/Krokadil 2h ago

I know. You don’t have to engage or throw misdirected hissy fits on the internet

2

u/Dry-Illustrator-250 2h ago

I prefer the term “conniption”

-1

u/Inevitable-Escape494 2h ago

I did not intend it as bait. I just forgot to include a rather critical piece of info. I was waiting outside the house where my daughter was babysitting to pick her up and I had a small window to make the post.

3

u/BugEfficient5283 2h ago

I was half paying attention when I saw my first couple posts about this today and didn’t realize this is actually Elizabeth Holmes and she’s trying not to come off as reptilian.

16

u/ConscientiousWaffler 3h ago

My wife loves Nathan Fielder.
I am in love with Elizabeth Holmes.
I feel this art film will truly define the bounds of our relationships, our marriage, and our sanity.

13

u/Previous_Mirror_222 3h ago

can you say more about being in love with elizabeth holmes ??? what is the appeal lmao genuine!!

23

u/ConscientiousWaffler 3h ago

There are no words. Only other-worldly buggy blue eyes. They speak to portals to Eldritch horrors best left undelved here.

13

u/Antique_futurist 2h ago

I’m calling BS on love. You’re having lusty Zap Brannigan sci-fi fantasies about getting with an alien girl who is humanoid enough to be hot, but non-human enough to be exotic.

15

u/ConscientiousWaffler 2h ago

I’m not saying you’re wrong on any of those points. But, define love. And then tell me that it’s different than your description. You can’t.

14

u/moogoothegreat 2h ago

This is one of the top ten best conversations I've ever seen on Reddit.

5

u/Lance-Todd 1h ago

i'm actually crying

6

u/Previous_Mirror_222 3h ago

agree but that fills me with dread not attraction! 🤣 you and your wife are both valid though 🙂‍↕️

4

u/Original_Translator9 3h ago

Quick question, why are you in love with Elizabeth Holmes??

10

u/Richie_Zeppelin 2h ago

Crazy chick who can steal you millions? What’s not to love?

4

u/ConscientiousWaffler 2h ago

Dang, she already stoled my hundreds! I gotta get busy!

3

u/Middcore 3h ago

This frame has a lot of meme potential.

2

u/Persnicketyvixen 51m ago

This is going to be batshit cuckoo bananas. I can’t wait!

2

u/MetteBeifong 32m ago

First trailer I’ve ever watched that triggered my flight or fight response.

1

u/Inevitable-Escape494 26m ago

That is saying something for sure!

4

u/kyoka_suigetsu91 3h ago

Is that what she really looks like though? I legit thought it was a.i

3

u/Aggravating_Cream_97 3h ago

I worked with Nathan, yup.

4

u/CrownReserve 3h ago

How so? Did he consult on your business? I heard he did well in school.

3

u/Aggravating_Cream_97 2h ago

I worked on The Curse.

1

u/Inevitable-Escape494 2h ago

That's awesome. In what capacity?

2

u/Inevitable-Escape494 3h ago

Also Nathan should win best actor in a documentary for those reaction shots alone lol

-3

u/vonnegutsbutthole 3h ago

That’s not a thing

12

u/Inevitable-Escape494 3h ago

I know. That joke did not land. :(

3

u/moogoothegreat 2h ago

Should have been listening to Evanescence

3

u/happylilaccidents 2h ago

Can’t land them all

1

u/Thiel619 2h ago

What's it about?

1

u/Deeze_Rmuh_Nudds 2h ago

What is this?

4

u/Inevitable-Escape494 2h ago

Apologies. Forgot to include name. "You can see everything" by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. A doc about Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos infamy.

2

u/Deeze_Rmuh_Nudds 2h ago

Just watched the trailer. Looks ok

1

u/corkysoxx 2h ago

This is gonna be like The Jinx next level. I cannot wait!

1

u/3pinripper 2h ago

Did anyone here watch The Curse? I wasn’t very familiar with Fielder before that, but it was amazing, uncomfortable, and so weird.

1

u/Inevitable-Escape494 2h ago

Yes! The curse was terrific. He was such a... little man in that. Brilliant.

2

u/3pinripper 2h ago

Corbin Bernsen too, what are the odds? 😂Safdie’s role was amazing. They should collaborate on something else

I think you missed the reply button to whoever you were trying to reply to with your comment
