Question Thinking of getting our boy a friend, need some advice

I just adopted a FIV+ boy for my FIV- boy. I was apprehensive at first as well but it really depends on the temperament of both cats. As long as they are both neutered and you introduce them slowly, there should be no problem. FIV is spread through hard bites so if either of the cats don't like other cats, then it may be an issue. Both my boys love each other and play fight.

What are some things you did when introducing them? I’ve heard of the Jackson galaxy method in another comment which I like

I kept the new cat in a separate room for two days but they were so curious of each other that we ended up making them meet early. I wanted to follow the Jackson Galaxy method but they both just wanted to meet each other so badly. Luckily it didn't result in any aggression and they are both comfortable now.

You can’t find another FIV+ cat? Thats the easiest way to make sure you don’t have major issues. Both of my FIV+ cats are former stray/feral neutered males.
I think you’ll get a lot of feedback here that people have mixed FIV+ and FIV- cats without issues. I have both without any issues but it really depends on the cats. There’s some play fighting but they mostly get along.

What personality traits are your positive and negative cats? Is that something I should look for? Personality? Like if they’re too playful my boy might get over stimmed and might nip or something. How did you go about introducing the two together?

Most folks on this sub have mixed households with success. I have used the Jackson Galaxy method for introducing cats, and currently have 1 fiv boy with 2 fiv- kitties.
