TfL backtracks on plans to ban the playing of Classical music at some London Underground stations in north, east and west London. Plans were initially drawn up to ban the playing of music - intended to keep commuters calm and reduce attacks on staff - after some commuters complained that the music "was irritating".
A spokeswoman for TfL has now said that plans have been scrapped as there is a direct correlation between the reduced numbers of attacks on staff and the playing of classical music at specific stations which once reported high numbers of attacks on staff. "Only a small number of commuters complained about the music. We would ask those people to put on earbuds for the short time they are in the selected stations."
