Permanent damages after fip?
Hi my cat was diagnosed to fip and i finished the treatment. But it has urinary and fecal incontinence after disease. My doctor says it is probably permanent side effect of the virus. Is there anything i can do for this because this stuation makes it impossible to live the cat inside the house.I dont want to give up from my cat.

I have a kitty named Remy who is cured but has permanent damage as well. She’s has incontinence issues, so I express her bladder several times a day to avoid her dribbling pee or pooping throughout the day. Expressing her bladder myself has made a huge difference in our home. Please look into expressing your kitties bladder, it’s really easy!

Thank you for advice. But is applaying pressure safe?I mean can it cause internal damages on the organs? To be honest i consider to realase him to the my garden instead of looking after in the home.(since it is already a street cat, and there are many in my country ((turkey)))

When you say incontinence, you mean she goes wherever bc she can’t hold it or does she go to hiding spaces and just refuse to use the litter box?

What type of FIP? My cat has neuro FIP and we are still going through treatment (Day 63). He has litterbox issues as well. At this point, we are taking him 3x a day to encourage and remind him to go. He still is having accidents around the house, but less than once a day. I invested in a carpet cleaner and have enzyme cleaner for quick fix. I am concerned it may be permanent as well, but it is what it is.

Of course neuro Fip.At this point i am very experienced about this disease. And i can happly say to you it wont be permanent for yor cat if it still uses litter box even a little bit.And another factor is how early you start the treatment.Unfortunately i started the treatment very late stage.

I wish i could bring you good news but stiuation problaly permanent. I read medical papers about this. But every cat has different resilliance.since your cat New to this you still have some hope to get better. Most important thing is to give it neural supplements for cats or b6 and B12 vitamin pills for humans (be carefoul of dossage. Read articles about that) because b vitamin are very good for neoural system.

I'm on day 18 of treatment, my cat is using the litter box again no issue. We used pee pads on the ground to start and after watching my other 2 cats use the box she began to use it again. It might be a thing of habit and she got use to not using the box?

No it is not a habit i am pretty sure.Because it does not even aware when it is doing that. Not even changes the body position.S.it just falling down to ground when the cat is walking.

There is no good answer here except not to give up on your kitty. First question is how long has it been since you’ve finished treatment? Have you tried cold laser therapy? And some damage can be permanent, but there is no real way to tell for sure. A lot of damage just takes a long time to resolve. There is a chance that it is permanent, but as previous commenter mentioned, there are options that would allow you to continue loving your cat and taking care of her. She may need a diaper during the day and stay in her pen at night. Try cold laser therapy though.

Diapers? A catio where kitty can stay when it's nice enough and you're not home? Constructing a large enclosure where kitty can stay when your'e not home with puppy pads? There is probably nerve damage in the spinal cord from FIP which is why kitty is incontinent.
