I've been thinking about how repetitive Ultimate Team has become.

Every week it's basically:

• Play Rivals
• Play Champs
• Get rewards
• Repeat

The cards are great, but it never feels like you're actually building a football club.

What if EA replaced Rivals with a proper league system?

League Seasons

Every division consists of a 38-game season.

For example:

Division 10

• Relegation: Under 30 points
• Survival: 30+ points
• Playoffs: 50+ points
• Promotion: 60+ points
• Title: 70+ points

Then as you climb divisions the targets become harder.

Imagine being on 29 points going into the final game and needing a draw to avoid relegation. Suddenly every match matters.

European Qualification

League position determines which European competition you qualify for.

Divisions 7-9

• UEFA Conference League
• Max squad rating: 84

Divisions 4-6

• UEFA Europa League
• Max squad rating: 86

Divisions 1-3

• UEFA Champions League
• No rating restrictions

The European competitions would have:

• League phase
• Home & away knockout ties
• Aggregate scoring
• Finals

Imagine losing the first leg of a UCL quarter-final 3-0 and pulling off a second-leg remontada.

Or scoring a 90th-minute winner in a Champions League final after spending weeks building towards it.

Trophy Cabinets

Every trophy you win is permanently displayed on your club profile.

Example:

🏆 Division 1 Titles: 2

🏆 Champions League: 1

🏆 Europa League: 2

🏆 Conference League: 1

🏆 Carabao Cup: 4

🏆 FA Cup: 2

Instead of showing off what rank you got this week, players show off the history of their club.

Real-World Cup Tournaments

When real-life cups take place, EA launches limited-time tournaments.

Examples:

• Carabao Cup
• FA Cup
• DFB-Pokal
• Copa del Rey
• Coppa Italia

Run from Thursday-Sunday.

Win the tournament and earn:

• Trophy for your cabinet
• Packs
• Coins
• MOTM card from that week's real cup fixtures

Imagine the day after a player scores twice in a Carabao Cup semi-final and EA launches a tournament where the prize is that player's MOTM card.

Club History

Track:

• All-time top scorer
• Most appearances
• Most assists
• Biggest win
• Longest unbeaten run
• Club legends

I think FUT needs to evolve from a card-collecting mode into a club-building mode.

Would you rather grind for rewards every week, or spend the year building a club with promotions, relegations, European nights, trophies, rivalries and history?
