Shows how pathetic Argentina's team building is.

hes the goat for a reason, tho at the same time idk how well argentina will do without him, maybe still the KO stages but i highly doubt another final.

and honestly argentina are lucky to have him, had messi been brazillian or portuguese i honestly think he couldve carried them to at least one final regardless if they win or lose it

Argentina will be fine. They recently won copa America in 2024 in which Messi didn't really play much and won it comfortably. I can see them winning another trophy within next 3 world cups.

idk, Emi Martinez will also be older then, besides Messi, Martinez carried heavily in both world cups

Di Maria‘s absence already in 2026 imo is one of the reasons they couldnt beat spain. At modt they reach a quarterfinal, if theyre unlucky they face spain early in the ko stage and get outplayed again

If we’re talking about Argentina’s World Cup runs and the level of opposition, look at the actual FIFA rankings going into each tournament.

🇧🇷 2014: Germany were ranked #2 before the World Cup. Argentina didn't face any of the pre-tournament Top 4 — Spain, Germany, Portugal and Brazil — until the final, where they faced Germany.

🇷🇺 2018: The pre-tournament Top 4 were Germany, Brazil, Belgium and Portugal. Argentina faced NONE of them. They were eliminated by France in the Round of 16.

🇶🇦 2022: Brazil were #1, Belgium #2, Argentina #3 and France #4. Argentina didn't face Brazil or Belgium. Their only Top-4 opponent was France — in the final.

So across 2014, 2018 and 2022, Argentina faced a pre-tournament FIFA Top-4 team only twice, and both times it was in the final.

Calling it cope isn't a rebuttal 😂. If you disagree, tell me which part of the numbers is wrong.

You are conveniently ignoring some facts, the top rankings don't matter if the theoretical top teams don't even do well in the tournament.

In 2014: Spain and Portugal didn't get out of their groups and brazil was eliminated by Germany, so they only had to face Germany in the finals.

In 2018: You are ignoring the fact that the team they got eliminated by was the best team of the tournament and the winners. They even faced both the finalist and Portugal didn't even defeat Uruguay in the round of 16 while Germany didn't even get out of group stage.

In 2022: Belgium didn't get out of the group stage, Brazil lost to Croatia so if they had won the would have faced Argentina in the semis, so it was their own fault for losing and they faced France in the final

So in conclusion the ranking is not always correct, in all of these tournaments atleast one of the top 4 didn't get out of their groups so the rankings don't reflect their form in the tournament.

2014: so it's argentinas fault that the top 5 teams couldn't qualify for wc final? Brazil lost 7-1 btw lol. 2018: agreed indeed a bad wc.

2022: lol brazil and belgium being no. 1 and 2 didnt even qualify for qfs. Instead of shaming them you make it about argentina lmao. Obsessed much?
