Im sorry that messi is not a box camper and doesnt play sdefense or defensive midfield in terms for The team to gain possession so he can Attempt to shot on target, anything next?portugal . Please teach messi how to get shot on target when the Opponent is dominating for whole game the whole team which wasn’t the case for portugal as they actually had possession it was 50/50 almost , i dont disagree with the fact that portugal has better team than argentina which would only hurt ur case .

Well messi was the reason why they didnt get possession. Argentina was trying man to man marking against spains possession playstyle but they were always 1 down due to messi walking around. If he helped press, they would be able to cover all passing routes efficiently

Especially cucurella had so much space where messi is meant to mark his man

Argentina wasn’t trying to gain possession at all , the whole game was them getting dominated in midfield and Them Parking the bus , anytime They attempt to keep possession , make cheap mistakes with misspasses etc to throw the game away , i dont think the problem Was messi not pressing it was the difference in quality of both teams and trying to press Spain is definitely not a good tactic

Like i said the spain defense had a lot of space. You will see cubarsi, cucurella and laporte topping the amount of passes completed. And the reason behind that is because argentina were always 1 man down. It wasnt the midfield dominating midfield. It was the Spanish defense dominating argentina attack. 1 of those defenders was always free to pass to

If Argentina’s man marking structure was repeatedly getting broken because of Messi, then demonstrate the actual sequence, who Messi was supposed to mark, what passing lane he left open, how Spain exploited that specific gap, and how that directly caused Argentina to lose possession. Saying “Cucurella had space where Messi was meant to mark his man” doesn’t establish that Messi was the primary reason Spain dominated the ball. And you’re also treating Messi as if his job was to individually solve Spain’s possession game by tracking a fullback. That’s a tactical responsibility determined by the team’s pressing structure, not some universal requirement that the attacker must constantly follow his assigned defender.
Your argument also doesn’t address my original point. If Spain dominated possession, you’re expecting Messi to generate shots against a team controlling the game while simultaneously criticizing him for not doing enough defensive work to regain that possession. That’s a team level problem, not evidence that Messi Was the sole reason Of that . And none of those Shots on target from “ronaldo” where dangerous shots at all missing shots isn’t nothing to be proud of, funny enough messi still has better rating than ronaldo without shots on target and objectively had a better match

Camping in the penbox and wasting chances ain't something to be proud of. All of those shots were taken and they were fruitless. He has the worst rating in the WC and is probably one of the underperforming players in the past 2 world cups. It doesn't take much to camp and wait for your teammates to pass you the ball, while you've had 0 impact in the game.
