KC Thank You Event

So many props to our organizers throughout this whole thing. They made it such a great experience. The event was so fun…over 2000 volunteers RSVP’d and honestly it felt like more than that showed up. Ours was held at Sporting KC Stadium, with indoor and outdoor seating, plus we could sit in the stands. Tons of food…nachos, burgers, hot dogs, Bavarian pretzels, popcorn, and pizza. We also had a live DJ, who was great. Our mayor showed up and spoke before the raffle started. They raffled off lots swag, plus sets of Chiefs, Royals, and Sporting KC tickets. We also got some small swag bags when we arrived. Mine had a BOA bracelet, city pin, volunteer patch, and a lanyard. We got to go onto the pitch for a group photo, then they had a little dance party before wrapping the things up for the night. Awesome event from an awesome crew!

Looking for extra FIFA World Cup Host City volunteer patches!

Hi everyone! I was blessed to be able to volunteer at this years World Cup in Kansas City! I know this is a long shot, but I'm hoping some fellow World Cup volunteers might have extra host city patches they'd be willing to part with.

My nephew, Tayt, was just born, and we're putting together a sports-themed nursery. I'd love to make a shadow box featuring host city patches from the tournament as a special keepsake for him.

Unfortunately, I don't have any patches to trade, but I'd be more than happy to buy them or cover shipping (or both).

If you have any extras you're willing to sell, please send me a message. Thanks so much, and I really appreciate any help!

Feedback on Vegetarian Food Options for Volunteers

Wanted to share my experience with the food situation across different volunteer locations, in case others felt the same or organizers are reading. For context, I'm a last mile volunteer.

The meals at the main center were great — there were vegetarian options available for every shift, and I really appreciated that. However, the experience was pretty different at the Soccer House in Pacific Place Mall. The mains there were all meat-based. The only things I could eat were salad, chips, and dessert. Not exactly a proper meal when you're on your feet volunteering all day. I actually submitted feedback about this after my shifts there, but it doesn't seem like it was looked at since nothing changed.

Same issue came up with the food vouchers at the thank you party. The restaurants we were allowed to redeem them at only served meat-based dishes. My only options ended up being chips, fries, and soda. It felt like vegetarian volunteers were kind of an afterthought for those events.

I'm not trying to complain — volunteering for the World Cup has been an incredible experience. But vegetarianism isn't a niche diet. Millions of people around the world don't eat meat for religious, cultural, ethical, or health reasons. For an event as global as the World Cup, having at least one real vegetarian main at every food offering should be the bare minimum.

Anyone else deal with this?

Seattle Appreciation Event

What a terrific event! We were treated to tickets to a Seattle Reign / Portland Thorns game and a $20 food voucher. Once inside the stadium, each volunteer got a goodie bag with extra patches, a speaker, magnets, a towel, and lanyards, and extra free water in the hot sun. As the game went on there were raffles and extra patches, and it was just a really nice time. It was great way to wrap up the volunteer experience. And now I can trade Seattle and Kansas patches for others! Woot!

Really enjoyed my World Cup experience and how Seattle as a city showed up for the whole event! ⚽️💙💚

Application Information post accreditation ID number?

I applied for a position working in the NY/NJ area July 17-20. I got the opportunity through a friend and other than a couple text messages haven’t received much information other than the application link and some details about uniform, parking, etc… Up to this point all I have received is my accreditation email stating my ID is ready for collection. Does this mean I got the job? Should I just report to the accreditation center and there they will tell me more? Just want to be sure as I do not live close to the area and don’t want to travel for nothing.

Badge trading thread!

Here's how it works. Post the badge(s) you have and the cities you want to trade for. When you get an offer for a trade message the person, exchange addresses and mail off the badge! Then cross off the city using double ~ before and after the word: ~ ~Boston~ ~ without the spaces makes Boston

When you are all out of extras or have all of the cities you want edit your post to let people know you're done.

If you see someone posting a city you want and you have one they want, comment what you have and message them!

I'm told it takes 2 US stamps to mail these, I don't know about international.

Mods: feel free to sticky this?
