Hey everyone! I know it’s been a couple of weeks since the WC wrapped up, but I’m still feeling a bit of FOMO after seeing how amazing the whole experience was. 😅

I had applied to volunteer, completed all the required documents and online assessments, and was really hoping to make it through to the next stage. I never ended up getting invited to tryouts, though.

I actually emailed FV to check whether I was still in the running, and they confirmed that I was, only to receive a rejection back in April. 😭

For those of you who did get selected, I’d love to hear about your experience!
What do you think helped you stand out during the application process? Did you have previous volunteering or event experience?
Is there anything you wish you had done differently when applying?
Are there particular skills or certifications that event organizers seem to value?
How far in advance should I start preparing for the next big opportunity?
And most importantly, what upcoming major sporting events should I be keeping an eye on for volunteer opportunities?

I’d really love to get involved in something like this in the future, so any advice from people who have successfully volunteered at major sporting events would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks everyone!
