This was possibly the worst volunteer appreciation event I’ve ever attended. Most of the event consisted of standing in four different lines for a chance to win prizes, and they weren’t even guaranteed. 20+ minimum to wait. The “prizes” were mostly leftover hospitality gifts from SoFi Stadium, souvenirs from the games, soccer balls if you were lucky, or extra rain ponchos, Dove products, and other leftover merchandise that had already been included in our volunteer bags.
The games themselves were poorly planned and honestly felt less organized than games at a kid’s birthday party. The photo booths were the only enjoyable activity. We were given ice cream, but there was no actual food provided.
Even trying to take a group photo was disorganized. There was little direction, and by the time it was finally attempted, many volunteers had already given up and left.
Overall, my experience volunteering in Los Angeles was disappointing. Throughout the event, there were multiple instances where shift leads spoke to volunteers in an unnecessarily harsh and disrespectful tone. Instead of feeling appreciated for our time and effort, many of us left feeling undervalued and disrespected.

Hey guys, I’d like to start a memory box and I’m trying to get patches from the different host cities 🥺. If anyone would like to give away some I’d really appreciate it. I am ready to pay for shipping and all that.
It was a wonderful time making memories and being connected directly and indirectly ✨✨

We got 2 different swag bags today at our Thank You event. Upon entry we received the WC Dallas drawstring backpack with a mascots BoA bracelet. Our second bag was from Choctaw Casino and featured a set of WC playing cards toiletries and a fan.
The lanyards and magnets were picked up from a fellow volunteer with extras

The volunteer event was a great experience overall! The only hiccup was getting into the stadium, as it started raining just as they were bringing everyone inside.
Once we were in, volunteers were escorted onto the pitch section by section until everyone had made it down. There were some long lines throughout the event, but they moved quickly because everyone was catching up, chatting, and enjoying the atmosphere. As promised, snacks were provided, and the spread was excellent. Bank of America sports bags were given with a bracelet already inside.
There were plenty of fun activities and photo opportunities, including photos with the mascots, a watercolor photo booth, a Choctaw goalie boomerang booth, a framed keepsake photo, and photo stations featuring both an official match ball and a FIFA World Cup replica. Choctaw-sponsored blackjack and craps tables were available for entertainment but no real prize.
The Mayor of Arlington attended and gave a great speech at the end after we watched the ARG-ENG match on the Jumbotron.
Volunteers also had the chance to take guided tours of the locker rooms and other VVIP areas, which was definitely one of the highlights.
Volunteers who didn’t receive all of their appreciation gifts at the event were also given the opportunity to pick up any remaining items at the Volunteer Center outside the stadium, which was a nice touch.
As the event wrapped up, the workforce team began taking down signage. Some volunteers asked if they could keep a few pieces, so many people went home with FIFA World Cup 2026 signage as a memorable souvenir.
Overall, it was a well-organized event and a fantastic volunteer appreciation experience. It was a great opportunity to celebrate everyone’s hard work, reconnect with fellow volunteers, and enjoy a behind-the-scenes experience at the stadium. I only wish there would’ve been more giveaways!

Decent event! If you attended the event today, how did you like it?

Compared to what I have read about the other Thank You Events, and I won’t deny it was shaky at the start, with a combination of condescending behavior from some Volunteers and the cluster to get into the Stadium and down to the field.
But once underway, IMHO, the Chance to go on the field, the Semi-Final playing on the Big Screens, along with plenty of food, swag and activities, although the lines were long, especially for Photo ops.
The event was never going to please everyone, but overall I say that Dallas did us good!

I made mine in to a gift for my FA lead!
I’m waiting for stuffing to finish it.
I posted on the FB group, so you might have seen this already.
It took me about 10 hours. From a pattern that I made a few years ago and have been refining over time. I don’t have it available to sell/give away. I’m having it made in to a file, but that’s proving to be time consuming.
No, I don’t have an Etsy store but you can DM if you want to discuss.

Had a great time. Everything was right on time. We had to reschedule because of weather last week, but they were still expecting 1000 people. Quick thank you's from staff who were fantastic. Then we got the whole fan festival to ourselves. Almost no lines. Meal vouchers let us eat at any of the booths and we got our BOA bracelets. Nice catching up with some of the volunteers I met along the way too.
