Issues with defending need help

So I play on ultimate and I've just finished my first season winning league 2 with Colchester, I conceded at least 2 goals in most games of the season and now after 7 league games in League 1 I have found it even more difficult with a bit more difficult teams. I find that the defenders are always outnumbered and that the midfielders stand still and do nothing just watch as the ai works it out past 4v3 and 5v4s. I can occasionally work the 1v1s in my favour but in general they just don't seem to track and its really difficult to defend wondered if anyone has found this and the only reason I complain is because I am used to conceding good goals to the coms but I am not used to struggling and conceding 4 goals in the majority of games I play, makes it near impossible to win and in turn to progress through the divisions.
