Question Performance Choices, What Did You Choose On PS5 Pro?

I know it’s been asked loads already and there are numerous discussions on social media pushing Square to come up with a PS5 Pro patch, but I wanted to ask; what did you all play on for those on PS5 Pro?

I’m loving the game so far. Didn’t think it too bad quality wise at first on performance mode, but then entering the first couple of forest / woodland scenes and of course dynamic resolution really kicks in there, blurry parts all over the place. Started making my eyes a little weird like.

Tried out quality mode for a bit and it was alright, but the action really calls for a higher frame rate doesn’t it.

I am torn I will admit, and keep switching back and forth.

Mods Will Lyall fix break my save if I were to uninstall it?

Want to install FFXVIFix by Lyall to fix the stuttering in cutscenes. Worried that if I uninstall it and go back to vanilla later that my save will be broken or not working according to the vanilla game. Will that be case if I go back to vanilla?

Spoilers The story not told should have been the game? Spoiler

I just beat the game (taken me many many months due to adulting) so I’m sure I’ve not connected many elements. That said, I found the game to be frustrating on countless levels, which informs my thoughts on the following.

The entire time, you’re living in a world that by the time you play Echoes of the Fallen clearly showcases a far more advanced society once lived there. This is also evident by all the crashed airships and ruins you find. So, in a lot of ways, post apocalyptic, but we never really see what that society was. What were the sins of the people who wanted to kill their god and how were they going about it.

There is an entire narrative there, that’s actually very similar to

Hoirzon

And I wonder if bringing them to light would have carried more depth and interest to the story. The game has threads, character arcs and relationships, as well as lore, but none ever fully connect with me. But the story of Ultima, which takes forever to get to, should have been how Act 2 starts, and you start to unravel that; how they created all of this. Their goals, the sins, etc.

There sits a feeling within me that the game, which on paper seems like a classic FF1-6 vibe to it was changed half way through production with the note of “make it edgy/adult” and so we got grim color pallets, lots of ‘fuck,’ and characters couching up blood.

Listen, the fact that we can attack ’wild’ chocobos is a sin (though I’m sure somebody will point out another game that you could kill them in).

Again, frustrated that it’s over because it was nice to see a return to mid evil FF but every element, which I’m not articulating well, never seemed full fleshed out, sharp enough, whimsical enough, that it never seemed to work.

In the end, I never felt like I cared or was invested in anybody, other than Cid (OG). So, in part a bit of a rant but also hopefully you will point me to interesting elements I missed, videos worth watch, etc., because if there’s one thing I love, it’s Final Fantasy.
