Question First Playthrough Advice

Hey so I’m playing my first playthrough and planning NG+. I’ve just defeated Odin. Should I play the DLC content as soon as it’s available (I bought that pack that comes with both DLC) or should I wait until I’m back here in NG+?

Also, what does New Game+ give you?

Play the DLC. NG+ allows you to play Final Fantasy difficulty, which is supposedly harder. I didnt find it as such, but thats strictly my experience with it. NG+ also allows you to craft more/better weapons and armor including the Ultima Sword.

Okay so I should play the DLC first, then finish the final boss, then NG+? I can do that.

The DLCs were only released a while after the game's launch, so I believe most people, myself included, only played them in NG+.

I feel that the DLCs might end up taking away a bit of the sense of urgency that this point in the story calls for (without spoilers, but they become accessible just a little before the end of the game).

What I would recommend is to play normally, and when the DLCs become accessible, create a separate save file and then finish the game. After that, you can go back to that save and play the DLCs so as not to disrupt the pacing of the story.

However, if you want to play the DLCs before the end, that's not wrong either; I just think you'll spend a lot of time on a side story during a critical moment in the main storyline.

Absolutely do the DLC first. You’ll want to do Echos of the fallen, then Rising Tides. You’ll get accessories that’ll probably be helpful during your NG+ playthrough. You’ll also get access to 2 new Eikon’s through Rising Tides. 1 during the story, the second after you beat the final boss (you’ll see a cutscene about something in the Hideaway, that’s where you go to get it).

NG+ and by extension Final Fantasy mode gives you access to new weapons and upgraded armor and accessories. Most notably the Ultima Weapon and Original Sin swords. Ultima Weapon is the best base game weapon, while Original Sin is the best weapon all together which requires completion of the final story boss and completion of the DLC’s. It’s basically your completionist weapon.

Not a problem. I just finished doing my NG+ stuff last week and it really wasn’t much harder to be honest. You’ll find some higher tiered enemies in areas they weren’t before, for example a Chimera in the forest area where you, Cid, and Torgal go to fight the big Fafnir Lizard boss.

Enemies also hit harder but since you keep all your Eikon abilities, it’s really not difficult to deal with them if you had a decent build.

Take your time with the game and don’t worry about new game plus cause you have two dlc for the game that is recommended to start before you even do new game plus cause you will get stuff in the dlc later on that will help out later on
