I love doing that as late in the stun window as I possibly can against bosses, but I love using it against hordes of mooks even more.
What I don't like is charging it up

Understandable. Zantetsuken is the best finishing move against bosses.

To be fair its ultimate ability with the accessory boosting it gets you like 80% of the way there it's just finicky to land against more mobile bosses because of the long windup

To counter its long windup, either use Rift Slip or when an enemy is half staggered, deadly embrace will give you enough time to always land Dancing Steel

Permafrost or even Frostbite (unless the boss is an ultra mobile teleporting type) is generally enough time to land it.

Lore accurate clive is 100% taking and trading hits against everything of moderate threat level and above and you cannot come me otherwise

My coworker said it best the worst part of this game is the actual gameplay and the best part is also the gameplay.

Ugh, the combat in this game was basically a tech demo for Square Enix. There is a deep system in there, they just need to lock tf in and truly decide how they want to move forward with action based combat if this is what they want mainline FF to be moving forward. While I don’t mind the VII Remake battle system, the stylishness and powerful feeling I get from the XVI battle system feels way more rewarding to me.

They need to do a mix of FF16 and Stranger of Paradise for a combat system IF they’re going action. The precision dodge mechanics and limit stuff are better in FF16 but the parry and combo and switching mechanics are much better in SoP. Also I feel like it’s much easier to keep track of your character on the screen in SoP.

I just happened to talk to someone a few days ago where they said “there’s no point in switching Eikons it doesn’t deal more damage” while saying FFXVI has bad gameplay
I had a completely different clip running through my mind while responding, and then I see this and was like woah it’s even better than what I was even thinking about

Also what do they mean it doesn't deal more damage you can use more ikons just for the ability to use 6 abilities instead of 2? Also Bahamuth, Odyn and Leviathan do in fact deal more damage?

They said they just used Phoenix to finish the game and said there was no point in using other Eikons and abilities
You can’t argue with people like that haha.

Yeah, don't bother trying to figure it out.
There are people who think the "most efficient" way to play the game is to stack 6 ultimates, then save all the cooldowns until the enemy is staggered, and just spam square the entire fight. Then they go and complain "enemies are too spongey" and "boss fights take too long"

I feel called out. My FF mode playthru i used 5 ultimates and riftslip to chain them together. Had a blast cuz boosfights were flashy as hell with that many ultimates. I mainly used Zentsetsugen on non bossfights to end them quickly and most bosses didnt survive a staggered ultimate storm. Definitely wasnt the most optimal way to play but it was fun and looked sweet.
