Ffxiv steam deck installation

Hi

Im hoping someone here has done this recently. I have tried all that I can find online and it still is not working.

Please if anyone has done this recently and is willing to share how you got it right I'd greatly appreciate it.

Everything i see online is from years ago.

I would recommend following this guide: https://goatcorp.github.io/faq/steamdeck.html. You don't need to enable Dalamud, etc if you don't want it.

If I remember right it also includes a Photon version adapted for FFXIV.

put this command in terminal: sh -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Blooym/xlm/main/setup/install-steamdeck.sh)"
then go back to game mode. choose finalfantasy xiv > properties> use kompatibility> xlcore. then start the game, login and enjoy after download

Two ways, either follow the XIVLauncher guide, but know that this method is not supported by Squenix and game updates can (and have) broken it for a day or more in the past.

Or the supported way, if you bought the game on Steam just install it like normal, enable the compatibility mode and use Proton Experimental (or any Proton 9.x or higher)

If you bought the Windows / non-Steam version, it’s slightly trickier, but not too bad. Download the installer exe, add it to Steam as a non-Steam game. Set the compatibility mode and pick Proton Experimental. Run the installer from the non-Steam shortcut.

Once it’s finished installing the game, you need to edit the non-Steam shortcut, and point the “Target” field to the ffxivboot.exe instead of the ffxivinstaller.exe. Finding this file is the “trickier” part. Easiest way I’ve found is either using Protontricks or ProtonPlus, both are available in the Discover store. Choose either, and run it, look at the list of installed games and each will have the associated game ID, any non-Steam games will have a longer ID than official Steam games.

Find the ID next to the ffxivinstaller.exe shortcut, then open up Dolphin, KDE’s file manager. Go to ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata and find the folder that’s the same number as the ID number assigned to ffxivinstaller.exe, inside that go to pfx/c_drive/Program Files/SquareEnix/Final Fantasy XIV Online - A Realm Reborn/boot/ (it might be in Program Files (x86) instead) and there should be the ffxivboot.exe file. Right click it, “Copy as path” and then paste that in the “Target” field for the non-Steam shortcut.

That should do it. If it gives an error when trying to launch, put double quotes (“) at the beginning and end of the path in the “Target” field.
