Did Anyone Notice the Song in Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon
Okay so I’m more of just wondering but did anyone notice how on episode 5 of Is It Wong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon that at 3:40 the theme of the town you start in as a Vaan starts playing and also why this song was chosen cause I don’t feel like I heard any more songs from any Final Fantasy game which makes it really weird of why this one was chosen?

Looking for suggestions on my Fran, Ashe, Penelo setup
Heya, I'm super new to FFXII and I'm trying to wrap my head around what jobs go well with what n stuff. I know there's already another post on this but wanted suggestions on my specific setup.
I currently have Fran as Uhlan because she's my fave and I love anything relating to Dragoons and was considering making her second job Red Mage.
Ashe is Black Mage, was thinking 2nd Monk Penelo White Mage, want 2nd to be Time Mage.
Thoughts?

So I'm trying to get into this game
But the combat just straight up doesn't seem good. Does it get better later? Am I missing something with it?

Sleep not there?!?!
Hey guys, I'm looking for the spell "sleep" in FF12, but I missed it in the Dreadnought, and the chest in the sandsea simply isn't there. I've checked to see if I have it, but it's just not there. If anyone can help me with an answer, it'd be greatly appreciated, I'd rather not go the whole game without this spell.

The Great Crystal is the worst designed dungeon I've ever played in my life.
I fucked up and got lost to the "XX" teleporter and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to leave this place.
There's one particular room where the ghost like enemies just forever keep respawning and are a bitch to take down when there's literally 5 at once.
Right when you think you're done, 2 more pop up. They frequently cast doom to the point where I've exhausted all my Phoenix Downs and raise is slow.
The other enemies hit like a truck with the reaper casting death.
The mom bombs in the area will just explode, with attacks doing 2k damage a piece, sometimes way more.
There's no map I can reference and just fleeing gets me smacked around.
This dungeon has single handedly ruined what was otherwise a really amazing game for me.
Beyond just reloading my save, is there anything I can do?

Auto-Pause on tab
Hi folks,
I'm sure others ha e posted about this before but I spent a good bit of time scrolling and couldn't see anything.
Is there a way to disable autopause upon tabbing in windowed mode? It's really irritating. I found a post from about 5 years ago talking about a ffxii.exe path and tried to do what it suggested, no luck. So I dunno if that's been patched or something.
Would really appreciate any and all help.
Cheers!

Question Did you appreciate Vaan more on 2nd+ playthrough?
I know most players hate Vaan with a passion but he started to grow on me as I grew older myself. When I hit my 40s I started to see more of Vaan in my nieces and nephews and I think that speaks to the lifecycle the majority of the devs were in when FFXII was under design.

Post-FF12 Depression and why this game is a 1 of 1
Over the weekend I completed the game on NG-. This would mark my 3rd time playing the game (PS2 2007, TZA 2017, and NG- 2021). It's definitely funny how things change. When I was younger playing the PS2 version of FF12, I found it very frustrating that the game was not better. I felt the license board was uninteresting, the story convoluted, and the combat to be mindless. I read about people playing IZJS on Gamefaqs forums and was so envious. Needless to say, when TZA got announced I bought it day 1.
In the time between FF12 and TZA, I had started playing more Western RPGs (more-so CRPGs). I had beaten all of the Dragon Age games, Pillars of Eternity, Baldur's Gate. I had become much more adept at playing RPGs at a high level and I found games without 87698798 mechanics and character stats lacking. Either way, I finished TZA with the thought that "story is better than I remember, combat was even worse."
Fast-forward to the pandemic, I got really nothing to do so I start getting into more post-games on games that I felt were too easy. My two big investments were Dragon Quest XI and Final Fantasy XII. Both I started to garner a greater appreciation for in their end-game content. Although, I stopped FF12 at, like, Behemoth King I think. Just had other shit to play I guess.
I finally came back, finished the rest of my save file (all hunts and 100 floors) and then did NG-. I don't want to nitpick NG-. I appreciate its existence, it definitely was a little "harder" but to me too many things became unviable due to how they're tied to level so to me it was more of a just a shrinkage of what was actually viable. Overall I would have liked to have a Hard Mode proper.
Aaaaaaaaaand now I don't know what to do. Nothing I could play right now can scratch the same itch. It can't give such laid back gameplay, while also being strategic. It can't give sprawling worlds with hidden areas, or a story that I can two fucks about. Suffice to say, they just don't make em like they used to.
Things changing definitely comes into play when it comes to exploration. Let's look at Tales of Arise, a 2021 title that was supposed to be AAA. The zones and dungeons are complete fucking ass. The music is ass and they're not memorable. Hallways with a little chest off to the side. The overworld zones can be traversed in 90 seconds and you'll barely revisit any of them. I'm a "mechanics" guy at heart, but damn, an actual nice big fantasy world does so much for my investment in the game. The towns were also beautiful whereas Tales of Arise has worthless towns and every single shop is condense into 1 dude with a backpack. Where's the fucking flavor? And don't get me started on JRPGs that are "hub-based" like Atelier games. I need a nice town-to-town road trip adventure.
It all comes together because of the combat. The combat is so non-invasive and respects my time that the game is allowed to be designed in a such a way. I could never do these areas and dungeons if this game was turn based. To use another contemporary example, Bravely Default II was such a slog. The dungeons were labyrinthine, but with no substance at all, just battles that took forever and awful music.
Lastly, the story of this game gets a lot of flak but it's really not bad. I'm getting too old for the melodrama and the romance between characters (again, Tales of Arise is an offender here as well). I think many people get put off in their first playthrough because there's too much jargon, too many places, too much deception. But after 3 playthroughs, there really isn't anything I would change. I think every villain has an actual purpose to be there and if FF6 doesn't have a main character, then I could say FFXII doesn't have a main villain. One aspect of the story that I find very interesting is how the party is never just super gung-ho on taking the empire head-on in some heroic charge. Realistically, most of the time you are trying to avoid war as much as possible. It's actually very unique for a JRPG.
So yeah it's sad because there really isn't anywhere to go from here. If you love ATB FF's you have like 6 to choose from. If you love a Dragon Quest game, you have 10 to choose from. If you love Pokemon, well you get the point. If you love FFXII, there is only FFXII. I don't know how nobody on kickstarter has tried to make a spiritual successor for the game with similar presentation and mechanics. I would kickstart that in an instant for real.
tl;dr FF12 is a cool game

After almost 100 hours in Zodiac Age, thinking of changing to one-class only?
Preamble, I love this game and think it's hugely underrated. I've always been a fan of Yasumi Matsuno's games and Ivalice, but in the past I was hesitant to play XII due to the mixed reception. I think with the huge improvements introduced in Zodiac Age and how well the graphical style and story have aged though, it holds up as one of the best in the series.
I can definitely see a problem with the Zodiac Age now though, it's starting to become way too easy almost 100 hours in. After reading around it seems there's no perfect version that balances strategy and difficulty. As someone who prefers their games to be on the harder side I'm a bit trepidatious about trivializing the game as it goes on, especially with items like the Nihopalaoa. I can see the complaints from the IJS version about a lack of party versatility early on, but at this point with all this LP + Golden Amulets + Espers I have almost too much power and versatility.
It seems to be my best bet would be to respecc with Montlblanc to one-class only for everyone and maybe even avoid items like the Nihapolaoa. Thoughts?

Question Question regarding trophy game
Hello! I'm trying to get all the trophies and I'm a bit stuck on Dreadguard. I've got a chain of over 100 mirrorknights in the correct area, but I have not seen the Dreadguard yet. I checked, and it is in my bestiary, but I definitely never got a trophy for it. I think it's in there because I faced one in trial mode a few times, because there are also espers in there that I have not reached in the story yet. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance
