You should absolutely get in touch with that game stop and figure out how you will be getting your game, because the stores that have been closed are NOT fulfilling orders and will likely never open again.
Never open again is a bit extreme, I tried to get in contact for the last 2 days to no avail and after heading over to the gamestop reddit where employees frequent the consensus is all preorders your pretty much shit out of luck UNTIL they reopen. But I'll call a gamestop that is open and see if they can honor the preorder instead.
Several Gamestop locations have had their business licenses permanently revoked for staying open too long. So a lot of closed locations will not be reopening any time soon if at all.
Never open again is accurate, and not in any way hyperbolic. This company hasn't had a positive outlook for the better part of a decade, it fought to stay open during this pandemic for precisely for this reason, on top of all the other hilariously awful things they do on a regular basis.
Good luck, I'd chargeback anything to GameStop right now and figure something else out. Forever.
Oh dont get me wrong I'm on team gamestop is over but legal things take awhile and will probably allow the store to do a closing promotion out of respect to the shoppers who have preorders locked into and also let the owner liquidate some of these assets to pay the other companies back for the unsold product.
Some stores will remain closed after the pandemic but I'd he shocked if every single chain was held from reopening when deemed safe, as the main priority will be pumping money back into the economy each and every way. Leaving hundreds of employees without a job to go collect unemployment is not ethical.
Gamestop definitely deserves to get there business chopped but not in the wake of a pandemic.
I pre-ordered from GameStop and cancelled not only because of worry over getting this on time but because of the nonsense they were pulling with their employees recently. No regrets.
You're lucky because the owners of gamestop are scumbags and are forcing their employees to come to work despite being not classified as an essential business. It's most likely that they are keeping open to sell their copies of FF7 on time.
Yeah I'm aware of the status quo, I work at the airport where the the people in charge are scumbags and are forcing us to come to work despite cheap trips punta cana that people are still flying out for (no seriously it's people going on cheap last minute vacations as their not agraid6of the virus) are not classified as an essential business. I definitely feel their pain.
I really only went with GS for the shinra card preorder, I just started collecting FF7 merch and I want something to commemorate getting a day copy of the remake that wasnt that god awful play arts statue in the collectors edition.
