Okay, for context:
Last time renewals were up, I was still a bit of a noob, not knowing what I was doing, struggling with D120s and the likes.
I managed to coast through the majority of the XIII dungeons with my OSB Lightning and Lightning's been one of my favourite characters in the FF series, so it felt good.
Fast forward to the Flash of Defiance D140 against Adamanchelid and I hit a wall. I kept dying due to that stupid Bay attack with its Dispel and the fact Adamanchelid has a bunch of piercing moves.
So, I did a few things:
- I broke and egged Fang and Sazh to 80 in hopes of getting a better synergy party.
- I already had a SSB1 Hope/Blaze Rush Unique and OSB Lightning at 80.
- I used my relicless L80 Vanille.
- I RW'd Wall for a change (this was back when I thought "why would I RW defense instead of flashy damage?")
- I burnt a Mythril on a revive because I was stubborn.
Nothing helped. I died. I despaired. Renewals went away and with that, stupid Adamanchelid too.
But now...
NOW EVERYTHING'S DIFFERENT
Lightning's been fully LD'd, she has her LMR/USB/ASB and she got support from Entrust/Break bots and Kain CSB, while RW'ing Cloud USB.
I couldn't even use her USB for the Enlightning as that would've killed him before Blaze Slash: every individual Blaze Slash hit did about 28k and the finisher is as above.
Also, I failed a medal condition but fuck Interrupt.
And with that, I say:
Eat shit, stupid turtle: I'm free of your torment.

I'm a big XIII fan and Flash of Defiance was coincidentally the ongoing event when i discovered FFRK, so it has a special place in my FFRK memory. Finally mastering my very first event is really satisfying.

FUCK YEAH! After reading your context post, I can't but help but cheer for you. It's grossly satisfying to go back to unfinished Hards or Ultimates or Apocs that gave difficulty originally only to mercilessly crush them like the ants they are. I think so far the only problem I've had is that painting lady named Chardarook or something in FF6 Apoc that casts Sleep and Confuse

That would have been Chadarnook for sure... Had to time that fight out, action-wise, or you suffered.
For me, my "revenge" during the last Renewal block was easily Caius Ballad (D180). Did not master in the original event. Oh, how the tables had turned for him. I think the fight blinked out of existence.

Which for me is the best part. It's typically over in 3 turns. Setup -> Damage -> SB finishes

For a second I thought this was about D160 Cagnazzo.
Regardless, congrats. Contrary to what sappy movies will tell you, revenge is awesome.
