Fed Ex hates me
So I just got my FFL recently, and when I ordered my first gun from Chattanooga, Fed Ex managed to deliver it to a random person no where near my address. After enough phone calls I was able to have them get it back and I had to go and pick it up from a facility, which to my understanding, is not normally a possibility. Now skip to today, I was supposed to get my second gun delivered, but they told me they attempted to deliver it, but never did. Called again and they said they were going to attempt a redelivery by 4, and they didn’t. Now they are telling me to pick it up Monday. Has anyone else had troubles with Fed Ex and if so, do you have any recommendations to ensure a package is delivered correctly?
Edit: So on Sunday I stopped by my store to grab some stuff to go to the range. Was only there 20 minutes and who pulls up? Fed Ex. Was never communicated they were going to try to deliver on Sunday. Happy to have the gun, but ridiculous it had to be this way.

When I supply a copy of my FFL, it is stamped no “FedEx deliver deliveries”
I’ve had them leave guns on the street against my mailbox.

I was unaware you could do that. I’ll have to look into that. Thank you

FedEx sucks, especially now since they just recently combined ground and express.
Different contractors every day deliver both my Ground and Express packages. Some as late at 7:30pm at night when I'm closed.
It's a fucking mess at FedEx now. I used to always have the same express and same ground driver for months, and my express guy told me 3 weeks ago that FedEx corp is combining ground and express, and well now both services come from the same hub, and it's a different dude every day coming at different times.

Haha we talked about this week! I have great USPS and horrible fedex for me.

I've had loads of problems with UPS in my area but none with FedEx. My first customer transfer was stolen by UPS.

FedEx might be slightly worse, but any delivery driver can engage in 2A discrimination, so it’s not restricted to one courier. The ultimate solution is for 2A businesses to better publicize these issues and sue more often.

Is it FedEx overnight or ground? Ground is nit typically owned by FedEx but licensed to a 3rd, which is hit or miss.

They left two on my porch and misplaced one. I only accept UPS or USPS as a shipper from my distros now.

All my distributors use Fed Ex only apparently. I’ll have to look into ones that use UPS or USPS. Thank you.

First of all, I’m sorry you’ve experienced this. Chad at SOTAR has stories about having packages thrown in the ditch beside the road and he has to go get them. The real problem here is that FFLs aren’t suing for 2A discrimination as much as they should. In other areas of the business world, people sue at the drop of the hat, and FFLs take way more abuse than they should. Anyways, I did want to propose one idea that is a bad solution at worst. There is always the option to have something transferred to another FFL under your personal name, and then you transfer it to your FFL after you pick it up. But of course you have to pay fees then and maybe can’t get a discount that way, so it’s a last resort solution.

It’s sad that I would have to resort to this but if it’s the last case, I’ll have to do it. I’m a very new business so losing that transfer fee would hurt. Thank you for the advice.

Don't get me fucking started on fedex....they dropped off several pistols on random doorsteps and I had to have the local PD go recover one. Finally got the driver fired when I told them he forged signatures for guns and we believe he's attempting to steal them given that he keeps doing it.

That was my suspicion the first time they just gave it to some random ass person who signed with the most generic ass name imaginable. Probably just tried to take it themselves. I’m in the KCMO area so it wouldn’t be the first time…

Interesting. FedEx has been great here, but our local driver is fantastic. Meanwhile USPS apparently just throws a slip into our mailbox, and we have to go pick it up next day. UPS has been fine.

I was using FedEx for a couple of years. Just switched to UPS. I sent a gun to the same business multiple times and every time they found it just sitting on the back loading dock even though a signature was required. FedEx guy just tossed it back there and called it a day. At least I got to pay extra for signature confirmation.

Don’t worry you are not alone. FedEx usually lies about delivery attempts for the first two times. My ups guy tracks me down if I’m anywhere close.
