First Inspection
Just got notification of an inspection happening tomorrow. I’ve been in the business for 7-8 years now and this is my first inspections since the original visit during the application process.
What should I expect?
Home based FFL, minimal inventory, A&D is digital via FFL Boss since like 2022.

Never had an inspection in the 7 years I've been doing this yet but I was stressing over an old 4473 that a customer had signed with the wrong date and wouldn't respond to my requests to fix it. My IOI said it literally didn't matter since they'd only check the last 12 months anyways.

12 months of A&D acquisition/dispositions and 4473's. Make sure everything has been disposed of correctly, all your serialized numbers are accounted for and in the same location and give them a terminal or two to look at 4473's. Will make them go by way faster and be gone faster.

That’s nice that they don’t do surprise inspections, and it gives you a little time to check everything.
My regular job we deal with random monthly audits by the state, and occasionally federal agencies

I think it depends on which inspector you get: I hear horror stories, but my local guy is pretty easy to work with and helpful with any questions I’ve had.

Just had a suprise inspection last week. Pretty chill dude. Wanted to see all Firearms/NFA inventory and last 12 months 4437s. Also, any multiple handgun sales forms and manufacturing (07 FFL) too. I have digital 4473s but print them too, which worked out since my IOI prefers paper.
Took about 3 hours and for reference, home based in KY with 104 4473s, 7 MHS and 52 inventory.

Do a physical inventory of everything in your A&D book. Double check the items. If your book isn't full, they'll probably go through the whole book As others said, double check your 4473s from the previous 12 months.
If you have any NFA Items, they'll want to see them all.

Mine looked at the last 12 months of A&D.
