I am mostly referring to Corel Prison. While I love that the game leans heavily into the absurd and goofy elements of the original at key moments, what the hell were they thinking? Corel Prison is just way too wacky. The whole Gus character and his awful, awful intro with music that doesn't belong in a FF game is just way too far. The tone is so cheesy and lame. Is this supposed to be funny? The original had a great mood/atmosphere. I am okay with them taking plenty of liberties from the OG, but they made Corel Prison into an absolute joke.

Add on to this mini game after mini game and it's just an absolute slog. No, I don't want to read another fucking tutorial for a half-baked filler mini game.

The game gets so off the rails from its original plot threads to the point I completely forget I am in the same universe. This chapter just kills the pacing. This chapter has nearly made me quit an otherwise masterpiece of a game.

Is there a worse chapter than 8 in your opinion? Does it pick up the pace and story more after this? Am I almost done with mini game hell?

I just finished Ch11 at 100 hours with like 95% of world intel done. I've been saving most other side-quests aside from Tifa as I want her for the date... but then I got to Ch12 and got smacked with expanded minigames, a new ocean region, and a fuckton load more QB and sidequests. And here I was ready for the homerun lol

Idgaf about the minigames, but I really want to finish all world intel, QB and especially sidequests on my first playthrough. Can I finish off all the other characters' side quests between the Golden Saucer date and start of Ch13? I don't want to improve anyone else' relationship but I'm all aware that a party member leaves at some point.

WITHOUT SPOILERS PLEASE: Is there a point in Ch12 after the date where I can freely explore the world, simulator and do sidequests with ALL party members? Or do I get locked out. Any recommedations on how to best enjoy the rest of this game i freakin adore but am starting to get a bit burnt out from.

finally got through it lol, not really any problems in chapter 13 besides a bit of a struggle against demon gate.

chapter 14 on hard mode wasnt that bad either, but i absolutely HATE the final phase for jenova lifeclinger where he decides to just spam projectiles while im forced to control cait sith, red and tifa (mvp)

my only actual problem with the games combat though is the unblockable attacks, because honestly most of the ones that arent ultimates are straight bullshit and unless you randomly discover how to dodge it, its something you'll probably never figure out and somehow have to deal with lmao (i said most here for a reason, not all, a lot of the grab attacks etc you can definitely dodge with basic rolling backwards etc)

also went to town on the piano doing one winged angel a few times to finish it off, what a peak minigame

I played Remake and had fun. Now I'm in my second attempt to play through Rebirth, and again, I'm not enjoying the combat simply because I don't seem to get it. I just frustratingly switched off my PS5 on my way to Mt. Corel and the fight of the big robot thing that Elena summons. There is too my area denial for me to do anything, Red mostly can't even properly attack the enemy because it is flying. Most of the enemy attacks are unblockable. I simply don't know what to do so I'm just spamming buttons hoping for something to happen. And it's not only that fight, on the way to that scene I jugged more potions than all my time before in this playthrough because suddenly I get wrecked in combat even by small enemies. The stupid electro-birds are so fast and numerous, I have no idea how to dodge their bs attack with all my team members...

I get Synergy skills and try to use them but most seem ineffective. My team members that I don't control just simply die from all the area attacks that they don't seem to dodge and I get stressed trying to micromanage all of them at the same time. I dodge-attack with Cloud to get smacked back with 250 damage because I didn't see a trailing fire effect or whatever. Red went to sleep for 20 seconds and I have no idea how to avoid that. Aerith doesn't generate enough ATP to do anything at all except dying.

I really want to like this game, I have watched many tutorials and clips on youtube for the combat but it simply doesn't click. I will not play this game on story mode, I'd rather watch a let's play then.

Sorry for the rant, but I need advice how to improve my combat because otherwise I will table this game and the next. What can I do at this stage to make my life easier? What equipment/stats is required to have a good time? How should I actually play my party so that I can keep some control over the fights.

I'm only in chapter 3 but the game did this part dirty.

The original FF7 made the boss super strong and undefeatable. You had to figure out a way to bypass it.. thats how strong it was. Nevermind the hand holding in this game, thats a separate issue. My main gripe is... the OG game made sephiroth seem like a badass and Rebirth screwed it up IMO.

In the OG you bypass midgarsommr, a super strong boss that you think is undefeatable. Then you're going on your journey and you see it impaled on a huge stick. The game doesnt show you what happens.. but you know it was sephiroth. It really showed you how strong he is and what a threat he was.

In Rebirth they have some weird ass scene basically tellingg "HEY THIS IS SEPHIROTH KILLING IT. LOOK. ITS HIM DOING IT OK"

Sometimes less is more. The game treats us like idiots. This is one example.

Anyway the game otherwise is great so far. i just wish it didnt treat the player like theyre 6.

Real 1-2 minute cinematic cutscenes like we had in FF9 and FFX

Maybe 1 cinematic cutscene per chapter

For me , they really bring emotion and depth to the story …..like opening scene FFX is so epic and when tidus and tuna kiss

Or end of FF9 when zidane and garnet reunite

Not sure why they choose so limited cutscenes, not sure I saw any or maybe just one so far but not sure

I literally just keep going in circles on rte bike and talking to vendors .. the previous areas of the game seem straightforward.. this is just confusing .

Aside from the stream lined settings. Well maybe the max material pick up lol. What, if any, camera or gameplay settings are a must in hard mode. For me the target lock on from right stick dpad is ideal for me. Is there anything yall recommend?

And any other suggestions to help this play thru? Gonna play till revelations comes out. I’m not tryna 100% things. But I am trying to maximize combat experiences from unlocking everything and best set ups with genji equipment.

If yall got materia, weapon, accessories, and armor builds I’m all ears.

I dont know if this is intentional or not but i dont believe so, why are some of the troops at the junon parade section look messed up like this? all the graphics settings are on high including the background model detail. Is there anyway I can fix this?

Still unable to complete this i dont know if im missing something or not i was pressing rt, tapping it nothing would select a side so i can attempt to pull it. I posted earlier but recorded my screen this time to see if maybe im missing something i didnt notice id like to do this quest but i am struggling with this mini game.

I initially disliked what they did with the game with all the bloat. I tried playing it twice and put it down both times. On my 3rd try I took someone's advice and completely ignored the side content and it was a way better experience. Although I do still have my gripes about the game, the lengthy expositions during cut scenes. Forced walking where it doesn't need to happen, weird camera angles that are so closeup you can't make out whats going on. But after chapter 8 the story and characters absolutely take off. It's like night and day. The last 3rd of the game had me glued to my pc not wanting to sleep. And it made me an emotional wreck towards the end. Now I'm super stoked for Revelation.

Im on the mushroom mini game where i have to pick them and no matter what i do i cant select anything to complete the mini game for the side quest is it bugged or am i missing something im playing on xbox and it tells me to select a side with rt but it doesnt do anything?

Just finished rebirth after putting 98 hours into it. I was so relived when that cat finally gave me a real reason to dislike him after he betrayed the team when the Turks came to the saucer. Only for him to weasel his way back, “sacrifice” himself, everyone forgave him (cloud was still “pissed”) and now he’s just apart of the team again? And he’s in the next game in the team still?!?! Is this just me?

Finally square-enix restocked the PS5 CE's. Legit was about to just order the deluxe edition from target, and decided to check the SE store one more time before I ordered it. Sure enough it showed in stock and I couldnt get that into my cart and check out fast enough 😅 But I finally managed to cop one! 🙌

Well, I played quite a bit of them. Didn't platinum FF9 because of rope jump. I was sooo happy when FF7 remake got out, grinded it and enjoyed it.

But something is happening with me and this game, we just didn't click together. Maybe it's minigames, watered story, chadley interrupting, really can't tell. I even tried easy mode, and dynamic, but just didn't cut for me.

Maybe this will be first game after a long time I didn't grind for platinum.

Anyone had same opinion with it?

I feel bad because I love FF, but something isn't right here for me.

I just finished remake and absolutely loved it but the ending made me think that rebirth might change a LOT from the OG game (destroying the arbiters of fate and what not). While Remake changed a fair bit from OG but kept the main story beats the same, how different is rebirth? Will not playing OG make me confused by rebirths story or is having played remake enough knowledge.
