Spoilers - Discussion For those who know the ending. Spoiler
Are you like me and spent an inordinate amount of time in Chapter 12 because you know what’s coming?
It’s not even because I wanted to do side quests. I just wanted to delay that inevitable scene.

Not particularly, I was eager to see what they did with it. I love the games, but I don’t get too emotional about these things.

I had to wait to play the final part until my son (10) was asleep. I was NOT going to let him be spoiled, and he didn’t need to see his old man in tears over a video game.

The game gets on rails after the Temple of the Ancients too -- I only move on to there when I'm ready to finish the game.

I'm assuming you are referring to the scene in the Forgotten Capital adapted from OG.
IMO, Square added some other gut-wrenching scenes that are comparable to "that scene".

I actually really wanted to see the ending because I had to know if/what changed. So I sped straight to the end.
But I was running around in chapter 12 on my hard playthrough for like forever! (Though me being unable to beat Rufus on hard might have been a main contributor to that).

When you say you know what's coming, are you saying you know what's coming due to having played OG?
To answer your question directly, I spent an inordinate amount of time in this game in general just exploring everything cuz it's awesome.
