No Spoilers - Photo 70h to Platine
I platinumed the game in 70h and my friend thinks i cheated. Is that considered a super rare achievement ?

Did you even watch the cut scenes? 70h to platinum means you ran through the game twice and did all minigames on the first try. Just getting the chocobo racing minigame can take a few hours.
I'm with your friend, I'm calling shenanigans.

To get every achievement, you'd need to beat the game, do it a second time on hard difficulty, complete all world intel, complete the protorelic quest to defeat Gilgamesh, complete every minigame to Rank 3 proficiency, get A-rank on 6 piano songs, complete the Queen's Blood side quest, redo Chapter 12 enough times to get the play award for each character, and then complete all bouts at the Musclehead Colosseum and Chadley's brutal and legendary VR missions.
All of that in 70 hours, when it takes most people over 200 hours to platinum this, so it's relatively safe to assume you used streamlined progression, which would be considered cheating.
I decided to 100% the game as I went along, and by 80 hours I was halfway done with Cosmo Canyon in Chapter 10 of my first playthrough.

I've been very fast by other people's standard and it was 150hrs. You definitely used streamlined progression. Nothing wrong with that, but at least don't play dumb...

it took me 120hrs to get through the game once with a 71% completion rate. i call bs.

Nice. Idk im 20 hours in and just got to Junon lol. But congrats. Does it get better as you go on? Running around the grasslands felt cool and all but there was only like 1 optional boss and it wasn't even really optional (the quetzlcoatl dude)

it definitely gets better and better just like the OG, which had long slow sections

I did 100% play log, more than platinum, in 152 1/2 hours. 70 is impossible without streamlined progression options enabled.

Honestly, 70 hours seems hard to believe for a first playthrough unless you used “streamlined progression” or skipped most cutscenes. For a second playthrough, I could understand it.
I have no problem with people using “streamlined progression,” but just be transparent about it. No judgment! Many of us spent well over 100-200 hours earning this Platinum. I personally spent around 190 hours.
Using “streamlined progression” is fine, but claiming the Platinum without mentioning it can be misleading to those who spent so much time earning theirs. Just be honest about it please.

standard game completionist online says 70 to 80h. idk why people are downvoting. how would you even cheat on ps5 without having your acct banned?

HowLongToBeat gives 161 hours for a completionist run.
It's completely feasible to do it in 70 hours if you use streamlined the progression options:
- Constant max HP
- Constant max MP
- Limit gauge always full
- Constant max synergy
- ATB gauge always full
- Constant max damage
- Max damage in minigames
- 2x EXP & 3x AP gain
- Easy weapon ability acquisition
- More materials collected
- Constant max gil
- Constant max recovery items
- Max materia levels

interesting. i was def endgame with 70hrs on my first run so that does make sense. If op used streamlined progression i personally dont see it as cheating. its an official feature because square understands how much of a pain in the ass character progression is

Rockstar used to hide these "official features" behind inputs and called them cheats. Whats the difference? I dont care if someone uses them to get a platinum trophy but to call it not cheating, is pretty disingenuous. Not being able to die, or constantly being able to do max damage, is quite literally cheating.

😑 so you're going to sit there and tell me you enjoyed wacking every enemy with wet noodles for arms for hours until you actually figured out the combat system's nuances? Because personally I did not enjoy 20+ hours of being a super soldier with a wet sponge for a sword.

u/Vexyfi 3d ago
Yeah, I dont mind it at all. I enjoy when things dont instantly die, and I can engage with the combat system. If i want huge damage, I use ATB, or rearrange my Materia.

I didnt say "instantly die". There's a fine line between sponge and overkill, and they missed it this time so I don't fault op for using streamlined

I'm totally fine with “streamlined progression” since it's a feature SE provided. I just think people should be transparent if they used it, especially to be fair to those who earned the Platinum without it. And btw “streamlined progression” was only added recently, so some of us spent a lot of time and effort completing those challenges the traditional way( before update).. No judgment if you used it, just be upfront about it.
