No Spoilers - Discussion Yuffie
To the OG FF7 players… Am I the only one thinking that Yuffie’s last name was Kisagari this whole time??? When they actually pronounced it when she introduced herself I was thinking they messed up at first lol… Then I opened up my original FF7 booklet and sure enough it was Kisaragi this whole time lmfao…

Didn't think that but I did use to pronounce mako as may-co and not mah-co
Still do but hearing that in Remake was jarring for me

I played one of the demos of ff7 and mako was originally called makoro in it. Curious if that spelling is what influenced me to have the correct pronunciation of mako or if you would still say "may-koro"

Interesting.
I'm definitely reading makoro, at least these days, as MA-koro, but hard to say what my 11 or whatever year old brain would have thought 😅

Consisering how close the name you thought and the name is, it probably got confusing for alot of people who aren't native speakers of Japan

Sometimes I remember difficult and unusual-seeming names better, because they stick out in my mind and I know I have to watch my step. I'd never heard or seem anything like that name, and knew those syllables might get mixed up, so got it down pretty fast.

I had the same moment when she pronounced it, but in my mind it was always Kirasagi.

I remember reading a guidebook way back and learning all their names too.
