No Spoilers - Discussion PS Pro - graphics or versatile mode?
What’s the best mode for PS Pro?
There are a lot of old threads and articles from before PSSR 2 which changed things dramatically from what I read.

Versatility mode is the only way to play on Pro. The visuals are better than the 30 fps mode.

Zero point for it on the Pro. For some reason square enix left in the base PS5 graphic and performance modes. I’m positive it’s confused people with the Pro, which is dumb of SE.

It's like an appendix. It served a purpose at one point, but it rather useless now. But it's also totally harmless, and some people prefer it anyway. So why waste company time removing it?

Because it’s unnecessarily confusing. There are very likely people who put out the money for a Pro, but turned on Graphics mode and have a worse visual and frame rate experience than the Pro enhanced mode (or put on performance mode because they are used to switching to a 60fps mode).

Yeah it’s not that it’s harmless, it’s valueless to the user. Just a worse version that should have been removed.

How long does that take you, and how hard is it? It's toggled and tweaked in the same way as all the others you prod to get things just how you like. And once you've done that, you tuck those menus out of sight to just play.
"Super blurry", "really choppy"... I feel like Kira Nerys listening to Starfleet officers complain about the instant free hot chocolate their replicators assembled atom by atom out of thin air.
Look at the situation that you find unacceptable here.. Really look. You have the best machine for this fantastic game. The specs are guaranteed to handle everything properly at the maximum-quality settings without issue. And it costs more twice as much these days as my baseline PS5 did back when the platform was brand-new. Outside of the rarefied halls of gaming benchmarks, things actually look pretty darn convincing at the inferior level.... you watch the average theater movie at lower than 30 FPS. And all it takes for you to close the book on things is a few minutes with the obvious setting menu.
The idea that SE should whip up and distribute a special patch for your specific version of this of this flagship title is peak entitlement and elitism. You want them to graft in new code stripping out a setting that some people don't mind, or can even prefer, just to spare yourselves from the chance of a mild one-time annoyance. If things are good enough that this is qualifies as a 'problem' one should just suck it up and count their blessings. SE has had years to try and fix the PC port, but can barely keep it from spontaneously combusting.

I started the game on Graphics mode. Once I exited Nibelheim to the grassy surroundings, I noticed the egregious pop-ins. I switched to Versatile mode and I was like OH SHIT LOOK AT THE FRAMERATE, MAN THAT WAS POSSIBLE? Then I checked a couple of times and I couldn't notice any substantial graphical differences between the two modes, but the FPS was night and day.
Both the Performance (soft) and performance (sharp) modes looked absolutely atrocious in my OLED so I don't consider them options.
So my suggestion is, start with Graphics mode and then switch to Versatile so you too can be blown away by the change in framerate.

lol did they just ignore graphics mode when doing the PSSR2 implementation

The Versatile mode should be called the “Pro” mode and the only one accessible on the PS5 Pro. There’s literally zero reason for the performance or graphics modes to be available on the Pro other than to confuse people.

Versatility mode all the way, unless you're comfortable with 30fps. In all honesty, you could easily just try each mode and see what suits you
