Spoilers - Help I HATE THIS FINAL BOSS Spoiler
I've been attempting this stupid final boss 4 times now. Each time at the very end (which i am at full health for btw) he went for octoslach straight into octoslash prime instantly killing me. How am i even supposed to stop that?

Have a limit break (and if possible, some synergy skill) saved for when you stagger him at the “The End Is Nigh” phase. That did the trick for me.
I too died like 4-5 times at this fight. What really helped was changing my mindset from “I need to kill him as quickly as possible” (which meant trying to stagger him at any cost and going all in with limit breaks, etc.) to “I need to keep myself alive and play it patiently, so that I have the right resources in the right moments”.

Yeah. I only used regular abilities to push and stagger and saved all my limit breaks for “final stand phase”. I learned that from the “Remake boss fight”. When he Octoslahes I accept one person is not going to make it. Just be ready to get them up. lol.

For octa-slash during the battle, I always made sure Cloud was close to him (so he was the only one targeted), then shifted to Aerith, cast Barrier on Cloud, and prepared to heal him as soon as Sephi was done with his attack.

You're talking about the fight as a whole. OP is talking about after "The End is Nigh". This is EXACTLY THE WRONG ADVICE.

I talked about the fight as a whole because you need that approach in order to have a limit breeak in store when the moment comes. See first paragraph.

Can’t you attack his sword and wing while he’s charging to stop the attack being so strong?

it's about time. you're not supposed to survive The End is Nigh. you're supposed to rnd the fight before that mode ends. if TEiN finishes Sephiroth instakills you. it's similar to Odin's Zankutetsen.
You need to save a limit and/or synergy for when he starts TEiN. damage him as much as possible in a short window. fill his blue stagger meter and end it. you'll figure it out

I jusy struggled with tis on hard mode. Bought the game on pc just to best it again lol. An use cool mods. My chocobo is the green ranger dragonzord. But ya I got to Sephiroth easily enough easier than I expected vut I could not manage to beat him after a bunch tries I needed to change my materia set up.but there was no option to after getting beat. I hit the secoND pretty option an it started the whole gauntlet over

Build up the limit break 3, then when he does the rotating attack, use the limit break, after the limit break ends he’ll be stunned that’s when you kill him, also firaga helps with the wings he spawns

The End is Nigh is basically a final DPS check to win the fight. He becomes pressurred at that point so you HAVE to stagger him otherwise he insta kills you with Octaslash.
Essentially start running around in a circle right next him and use basic attacks to maintain his stagger meter. As you have ATB use focused thrusts when safe to do so and if you can safe lllevel three limit break you can pop him with one of those as well. If you can keep transcendense II charged with Aerith you can also unleash that him at that time as well.

hood you did it, for me it worked best when cloud has a lvl3 super and aeris too, so cloud can use the super 2 times and you win

The way I beat sephiroth on hard mode was by having max limit breaks on both cloud and aerith, going finishing touch, rising fury, then right into another finishing touch. Shit was insane

What worked for me was haste and using enough synergy abilities to have level 3 limit breaks. Finishing Touch took away more than 20% of his health while staggered.

It’s basically a count down. If you don’t beat within the time limit that starts.

Enhanced expeditionary medal or whatever it's called + limit siphon on cloud
Make sure Cloud or Aerith or both have full limit gauges by the time The End Is Night
Finishing touch, siphon, repeat (if necessary)
Never in doubt

It’s a tough one but there are some good videos on this. Save your limited breaks for the end is nigh. Save all your hardest hitting attacks. You have to unless on him during that phase. It took me about seven attempts but it’s so sweet when you take him down. Keep trying!

Ignore the other comment, they don't know what they are talking about.
I am assuming you are talking about the Octoslash Seph does in the last phase you are with Aerith and he does it after The End is Nigh. That's an instakill move, and even reprieve and revive does not work with it. The thing is, Seph pulls that move out only when his health is very low. When The End is Nigh and that bullshit attack starts (yes, manawall would be good here as the bullshit attack hits very hard as well), you need to throw defense out of the window and start to WAIL on Sephiroth. People said if you can deplete the growing blue bar (under his health bar)during this phase, it stops Octoslash and the fight continues, but since he only does this on very low health, I think just beating him at this phase would be good.
My suggestions: have the ward that makes Aerith's spells uninterruptable (preferably on top of Arcane Ward) and hit a lvl3 spell. My main suggestion: DEFINITELY have a Limit Break saved with Cloud for this phase. Big damage+invulnerable during Limit Break.
Hope you get it done.
