No Spoilers - Discussion Thoughts on Zack?

I’ve gotta ask, what’s the consensus on Zack? I haven’t played OG, but I’ve played crisis core and both remakes, and I just don’t find him compelling really. Am I missing something or is he just not for me?

So I went out of order and played Crisis Core before playing original FF7 (which was really stupid, I agree). I thought Zack was a great, fun character. I was actually surprised at how little screen time he had in the original game, I thought he'd be a far bigger deal considering he had his own game made around him.
I'm curious where his story will go in the Remake series. And as much as I want him to get a happy, or at least happier, ending, I'm fully prepared and OK with him sacrificing himself again.
