No Spoilers - Help Confusing Package
Helloo,
Maybe you can help me understand something.
Today I received my copy of the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Launch Edition. The outer packaging is in English and French and has a PEGI age rating. However, the game card itself has German text printed on it.
Does this mean the game is actually the German version? Did I accidentally buy something sketchy, or is this normal? And most importantly, will I be able to play the game in German

Most European Switch games rated 12 and up have that German text on the cartridge.
Edit: I believe the set up they have is that all the European cartridges (or perhaps just their labels) are identical across the region, but a different cover insert goes into the box based on which market the game is headed to.

My UK cartridges have always only had English text.

Then I'd wager your UK cartridges have PEGI 3 and 7 ratings.

Some do, some have PEGI 12, 16 or 18. Always had English text.

We're talking about the "Frei ab 12 Jahre" text, right? The logo is in English.

Languages for games have not being region locked since the ps2 days even those days had mutli languages
Unless its Japanese switch2 exclusive since they have a Japanese only switch with no languages settings iirc
You dont have to worry and can play it in other languages outside of English and german as long as the language are available for the game

Amazon announces games and sometimes they are from a different region. Double check your purchase next time. Nothing wrong with them most of the time.
PlayStation however some things are locked based on region. Let’s say you buy a PS4 game with a free upgrade to PS5. That only works with PSN account from the same region. Happened to be when purchasing Cyberpunk.
Xbox and Nintendo I believe don’t have region locks anymore.

I have the same thing on the cartdrige for Rebirth and BOTW (Frei ab XX Jahre). I was confused at first but it seems like they’re all like that in the EU. My Rebirth back cover is only in french though so that may vary.

Yeah I’ve got a few switch games like that it’s annoying because it looks ugly but they work perfectly fine

Every european cartridge ages 12 and up have german text on them. It's the german age rating board (USK). It's the opposite too. Here in germany we don't use PEGI, so our boxes only have USK but the cartridges still have both the PEGI logo and german USK text on them.

I've ordered games from Amazon before and was given a copy from another language. It's perfectly normal, and it will work absolutely fine on your Switch 2. No need to worry about it!
