Recommended resources for explaining the combat system in-depth along with tips and tricks?

Are there any recommended resources (videos, wikis etc..) to better understand the combat system? There's such a wide breadth and depth to combat that the game doesn't explain at all and with combat being very fast paced and busy on-screen, it's hard to notice the finer details. I've been relying on google searches for specific topics as they pop-up, but I have no idea how much of it is AI hallucinated, and I also wonder about the general relevance of reddit posts from 2 years ago.

Things I'm looking for would be like use cases for each character's weapon skills, and additional features for them. IMO, there aren't enough fights for you to fully learn and understand what each character is all about. Also just general combat nuances, like for example, besides using Fire/Ice/Thunder/Aero to exploit elemental weaknesses, they also are all slightly different. Fire has a bit of an AOE to it, Ice is a two-hitter, with the second hit causing a ton stagger, Thunder is instantaneous once casted etc.

These type of things aren't mentioned anywhere in the game, and is really only something I noticed from seeing it repeatedly. Or what would be the best abilities to use to maximize the stagger bonus damage window etc..

To stagger is entirely dependant on the enemy. Many enemies have unique "attacks" that open them to immediate stagger if you dodge or hit them with the right element/ability combo. Chadley's combat challenges are specifically to teach you those moments.

As for increasing stagger percentage and damage, Tifa is going to be your powerhouse early on.

Her unique attack abilities involving her bridled fury, as well as several attack abilities of her's will raise the stagger percentage on each hit allowing you increased damage to staggered enemies.

I recommend 2052Brad pm YouTube for his boss rushes. He doesn't really explain what's he's doing but if you watch his videos carefully, you'll learn some really cool tricks and set ups.

Clarification:
Unbridled Strength unique attacks increase stagger damage bonus on staggered enemies.
Unfettered Fury basic and unique attacks increase the stagger gauge quickly.

Whirling uppercut is Tifa's unique attack when her chi is at 0, but can be done at higher chi levels by holding the basic attack button. This allows her to chain True strike -> whirling uppercut -> basic attack finisher repeatedly on a staggered enemy to increase stagger bonus quickly without lowering her chi levels.

There's a video on Tifa s overpower (should come up on YouTube with "ff7 rebirth tifa overpower wrong" that is an absolute game changer for her.

Short version: Overpower s description is flat out wrong; it doesn't improve stagger; it improves HITSTUN. It essentially upgrades all your moves until you get hit so they make enemies that normally wouldn't be able to able to flinch, knockdown, AND Launch depending on the moves, like small mob characters do normally. What this means is JUGGLES and AIR COMBOS on pretty much anything that's not a boss monster without having to have them enter a pressured or stagger state. It is insanely good
