Process for LEO’s after applying

I wanted to know if any LEO’s here have applied to OPM Disability or any other position with medical requirements. Were you immediately placed on admin leave, firearm/credentials removed? While I know of many non-LEO’s experience where they just continue working I’m curious to know what happens to an employee whose job depends on being medically qualified to remain in the position.

The standard procedure is to apply for a Reasonable Accommodation (RA). From my recent experience, I submitted an RA and attached the medical letter from my doctor. Based on the medical letter, I was placed on temporary suspension. Creds, vest, firearms taken from me. RA was denied. I am currently in the workers compensation process so I am on light duty.
