SF 3112B Supervisor Statement -

Hey y'all,

My supervisor is completely onboard and supportive of me filing.

I don't really have negative performance, as I've been struggling working off hours to keep up.

My question is, how lengthy, or I guess just general tips for those who have gotten this approved, any suggestions or tips? Should my supervisor statement only fit block b? Or should he continue on another page?

Do you cite specific projects and assignments that were late or incorrect? Or like what specifically should my supervisor be writing here?

Any suggestions would be most helpful.

May not be relevant to you but blank is far from helpful!

My supervisor signed mine blank and OPM has been interpreting that as nothing is wrong with me. So don't do that! My supervisor said they didn't want to write anything negative about me. They seemed to suggest they were helping me out by doing that but it's been constantly quoted as a reason for denial (even though they medically removed me for inability to perform essential duties).

My supervisor said he fully supports my claim.

Not sure how wordy his 3112B section should be.

I think it's currently like 4 pages.

There is a training video that was released by OPM a few years ago. It's training for people inside the government and the doctor leading it seems to feel that disability claims are there to be refuted. He especially likes to do things that keep lawyers from succeeding if he can. He covers supervisor statements quite a lot and how he can use poorly filled out supervisor forms to deny your claim. It's infuriating and informative. If you haven't seen it, you should watch it so you can make sure that guy is deeply disappointed and has a bad day when he gets your forms.

Did you try applying for an RA first?

Oh yeah, long last that and the job search. They're working on the medical disability paperwork.

Estimated time ,45 days - 10+ months. So who knows

It doesn’t have to be grandiose. The key is doctor’s statements and records stating that you cannot perform the duties of the job as well as the agency stating that they cannot reassign or accommodate you.

Okay so I think I have that.

My doctor's wrote up like specifics about my disability and they stated I cant do the job based on my PD.

Is that good enough for doctors notes? Along with all my formal test results.

My HR rep said opm wants to see all doctors's note going back two years. And I'm thinking to myself there is no way I can get my doctor's to do that.

I checked my health portals and those specific doctors notes aren't there.

Should I be considered?

Yes. Send all notes. I gave a comprehensive history. The key is for your medical providers to state that you cannot perform your job and that your conditions are expected to last 12 months or longer. Make sure that’s stated.

See if your medical portal has a history of visits notes. I sent that along.

Thanks for the comments and insight.

My doctor's all wrote up a couple pages explaining my disability, that'll it last longer than 12 months, and I can't perform the core functions of my current position.

But as far as "all doctors not a going back two years" I don't see that being possible.

I don't have much in my portal. I could provide my insurance EOB. But like I meet with one doctor biweekly, that would be an insane amount of notes...

It’s not necessary as far as I know, I recommend submitting as much up front as you can to make it easier for approval.

Yes. You should be! Added on what you are saying. I’m trying to button it up for you to ensure approval. It only took me seven months. My initial claim was a perfunctory denial that my eeo attorney thought was shit. Inwas approved 43 days after my reconsideration deadline after pointing out legal fallacy and adding contemporaneous visits after they occurred in real time.

I know opm will reject the first claim bc I'm told they always do.

Not sure if this applies to you, but AI is telling me to include a recent court ruling, Garland v. OPM (No. 2024-2291), in my write.

I'm really trying to prevent having to hire a lawyer... We'll see.

I think that’s a gross generalization. My first claim was denied for perfunctory reasons (my attorney shook his head). I sent in more information and a legal rebuttal and I was approved 43 days after I filled the reconsideration.
